I don’t normally post reviews -especially negative reviews, but I would hate for someone else to experience what I went through at this place. I called ahead and scheduled an appointment for a relaxer, but when I arrived, they said they did not have me on the books. I waited an hour before the instructor called me back to do my hair. She was obviously overwhelmed as she tried to work on my hair and someone else’s at the same time.
She added the relaxer in and rinsed it out almost immediately -not even giving it time to take to the chemicals. I was then left at the sink for about 45 minutes before a student moved me back to the styling chair where I waited another 20-30 minutes with wet hair in the cold building. All students had packed up to leave, so I asked the last one to dry my hair because I was freezing and wanted to leave. I didn’t even get my hair styled because I was so irritated with the lack of professional service during my visit.
A few weeks later, I visited a REAL salon to see if they could do anything to fix the disaster. The stylists couldn’t believe my story. Luckily, they were able to touch up the poor job with a light relaxer. I have had my hair done at various cosmetology schools, but I will NEVER go back to this place again.

I’ve been going to Luckes Beauty Academy for well over 10 years and I have never had a bad experience with any of the stylist/students. Mrs. Thomas directs a very professional staff and excellent students. I always walk in and am always greeted and seen right away. I’ve had doobies, relaxers, highlights, and just plain shampoo, blow dry and flat iron and I have always been more than satisfied. The shop is always clean and well cared for and students not styling hair are busy cleaning, straightening up or helping other students. I trust Luckes Beauty Academy with all of my hair care needs and I highly recommend them. I don’t plan on going anywhere else.
