I LOVE LOVE LOVE MacArthur! We moved to the district 54 zone purposefully for schools. I tried to get my daughter enrolled in Lincoln Prairie, the lottery based school. When my daughter didn’t get picked for the lottery, I found out that she was going to MacArthur and I as really skeptical and a bit upset. However, I completely changed my mind after first meeting my daughter’s Kinder teacher and being involved in the school throughout my daughter’s whole first year. The teachers, staff, principal, and vice-principal are awesome! They have so many ways to involve the community, not just parents, with the school. There are many activities sponsored through the PTA that are wonderful and really build a strong connection with the school.We went to every event and they were great. Miss Serafin and Mrs. Muñoz rock! My family and I will miss the MacArthur community. The only reason my daughter no longer attends school there is that we moved out of state or we’d still be there now for 2nd grade.
My son attends this school and loves it! He is enrolled in there Dual language program and is doing very well. I see him speaking more and more spanish by the week. Also since he is stronger in math and reading they will give him harder work to keep him challenged. He is in first grade now and hopefully by the end of the year he will be reading at a 3rd grade level. PTA is really involved in the school so if your looking for great teachers and to be part of a great PTA this is the place!
