if i could rate this place a zero i would. this place is awful and so are the staff. i was locked in a cell for 10 days straight, i was only ever allowed to leave for 10mins to take a shower. they would keep the blaring lights on all day and night while you would try to sleep. they would wake you up every morning to brush your teeth and or other things like that. i wouldn’t get up because i was so mentally unstable in that place. first night i was there i threw up because i was so terrified and the staff made it worse. i had anxiety attacks every night and at one point i couldn’t breath and asked for staff to help me, they refused to open my door and even check if i was okay, they just told me to go back to bed. i was given a puzzle and a few crayons to last me 10 days straight. can you imagine living in a room staring at the same walls for 10 days with a puzzle and crayons? i didn’t eat for those 10 days and got most 12 hours of sleep at most threw out them all. one of the staff had yelled at me for being so skinny because i told her i wasn’t hungry. i was out in a place with a kid that would take out his teeth and put his mattress infront of his window so the staff couldn’t watch him. if your telling me that’s okay it’s not the kid should have been in a mental facility instead. so if you work for this place you’re an awful person.
I recently applied for the Youth Specialist position at Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center and had a disheartening experience. My application was inexplicably withdrawn without my consent, leading to confusion and frustration. When I sought clarification, the response I received was that it was a mistake, and I wasn’t selected for the position.

This unprofessional handling of my application raises concerns about the center’s ethics and communication practices. A transparent and respectful approach to candidate interactions is crucial in any professional setting, and unfortunately, my experience with Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center fell short of these expectations.

Prospective employees may want to consider these aspects before pursuing opportunities at this organization, keeping in mind the importance of fair and respectful treatment throughout the application process.

Great place to sit back and take a good time out. Been here many times.
