The MLWGS is a godsend to the Richmond, VA area students. The teachers and administrators are at the top of their field in subject knowledge and in their ability to meet the challenging needs of the gifted and brilliant students that attend. This is a school full of only students that WANT TO LEARN and this is shown in the energetic way in which they approach their heavy home work assignments and in the general respect shown to the teachers. They are also eager to fulfill the requirement of community service hours and learn life lessons at the same time. There is an extensive array of academic, music, art, theatre and sports opportunities.
Students are more than prepared for college level rigor and can attend the college of their choice. There is a large offering of A/P and college level classes to the degree that it is easy for a Maggie Walker graduate to start college as a Sophomore. Our MLW graduate daughter was able to graduate from Liberty University in one and a half years.
MLWGS’ success is due completely to all of the people involved. Parents are supportive and involved, students are bright, dedicated and accepting of others. All teachers, staff, and administrators are trained to work with these special students and constantly display dedication, open-mindedness and concern for their students.
MLWGS is one awesome community that the Richmond, VA is lucky to have!

Well one things for sure, Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School is a blessing to the RVA community, and it’s a rewarding journey to be able to see students mature, develop, and shape into the next generation of future problem solvers for the world. Also, the institution at MLWGS constantly beats their rivals at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology over at Fairfax and it is amazing to experience Richmond making their mark in society.
