The Maine Coast Craft School has been the exclusive place for me to get the absolute best woodworking tools here in the USA.
Furthermore, the owners, Kenneth and Angela, offer the best and kindest customer service one could hope for. I literally ordered something, left a note that I was asking them to keep me in mind if a specific out-of-stock tool came in stock, and they went so far as to email me and say they had one of that specific tool left, and would sell it to me and include it in my order.
These kinds of things show that they go above and beyond to care for their customers.
Unlike big retailers, they communicate with customers, make themselves available if needed, and truly care about the craft of green woodworking and general wood craft.

They carry, as any woodworker would know, the absolute zenith of woodworking tools: Hans Karlsson, Svante Djarv, Lucian Avery, and others.
When looking for Hans Karlsson tools, they are the first place I look in the USA, and generally the only place one can find those tools.
They ship quickly, package the tools safely, and just make the experience so wonderful of purchasing the highest quality woodworking tools in the world. Truly, the tools they offer are the highest quality, best crafted tools that can be purchased.

I HIGHLY recommend the Hans Karlsson tools like the knives, spoon carving knives, drawnkives, inshave/scorp, adzes and axe. Kenneth and Angela don’t just sell the tools, but they are experts and will be able to guide you towards the best tool for your needs.

5/5 I absolutely without a doubt recommend Maine Coast Craft School for the purchase of any woodworking or green woodworking and timber craft tools.

First, I’ve been a LONG time customer of Maine Coast School & never provide on-line reviews for anyone. Who believes what you read anyway on the internet anyway. Believe this or not but it’s real. Ken & Angela & this school is different. They are their real deal, only selling world class tools and teaching a craft that I can only hope will never be lost. In this throw away world, the values they teach, live by & share are nothing less than old school salt of the earth. Outside of being a customer I have absolutely no affiliation with the them or the school in any way. They are that good. Keep the simple down to earth, dream alive. Thank you Angela and Ken!
I would not recommend Maine Coast Craft. The class I took was advertised as teaching three major skills: how to make a particular kind of wood object, how to prep wood to make those objects, and how to make the tools needed. The instructor only covered the first. There was active instruction for the first day and a half of a four day class, and then the instructor just hung out chatting with friends. There are many better craft and folk schools out there. I recommend finding an alternative.
