Mariner was a great experience for me!! When I first moved here from out of state, all I had heard was horrible things about the school, and when I was placed there I was nervous of how it would go after every thing I had heard. However, it turned out to be a great school. All the teachers are so nice and they are always open if you need help. (I will say that there were a few teachers I felt iffy about, but that’s how it is at almost every school.) There are many opportunities to grow, academically and personally. The school offers many clubs and sports, as well. Also last year, my eighth grade year, we had to complete an IB community project, which really challenged me to step out of my comfort zone and do something I had never attempted at before. If you want a school where you will be prepared for high school and on i highly recommend Mariner!!
Eh, they only do open house one day which is inconvient for kids returning fro vacation. My third year here and they still seem to not have their stuff together as they digitalised themselves last year which caused a large amount of problems with chrome books and such. A good portion of the teachers wouldn’t have lesson plans 2 to 3/5 days and last minute changes due to website crashes and such were really irritating also the idea of presenting the IB project makes me physically sick.
I like this school very much. Although people say they have heared of people at mariner doing drugs and it is true and it was solved right away. Trust me I know I am a 7th grade cadet. I was thinking of switching to challenger middle because I am tired of all off the drama and a lot of my friends are at challenger. But I highly recommend mariner middle. And the scedural can be confusing a little.
