This is the MOST HORRIBLE school there is in yuma! My husband is in the Marines, we moved here from Texas and the experience we had in this school its incredibly disappointing! My son attended Kindergarten with Mrs. Hinkle. This teacher is something else…she was old she seemed tired of teaching and annoyed by the kids, she seemed like she needed to retired already. One day as usual I went to pick up my son, they usually stand outside on front of the school for their parents to pick up their kids. As I went to pick him up, i didn’t see my child with the teacher, so I asked her “where is my son”? then she tells me” oh he just ran away from the line, I don’t know where he is went” …but she was telling me this no CONCERN at all…!! so I obviously panic and I started looking for him around the school. I was thinking of calling the cops already because I couldn’t find him! I started yelling at her asking her if she saw where he had went.. then she tells me” oh I thought he was running to you”… with no concern STILL… then she kind of started helping me looking for him. I had finally found him, and asked him what had happened. He told me he got lost because there was so many kids and he couldnt find he’s teachers and class mates.
During that week I made an appointment with the principal Mr. Clayton. My husband attended, the teacher and I. We spoke our concern and how this situation should had never happen, why was the teacher not doing anything to find a lost child. Why she had no concern at all, we didn’t feel safe having our child with a teacher like her. The principal was kind and we felt like he understood our situation during the meeting. He forced Mrs. Hinkle to apologize to us!! He asked her twice to apologize…but she had a child attitude, like she didn’t care and was annoyed to be there. My husband and I were amaze by her attitude. We didn’t asked for an apology, we just wanted a more secure school. But at the end of the meeting as we were living, we heard them laughing and continuing their usual day like if our meeting didn’t mean nothing at all. We end up moving our child to DVA and I’m TELLING YOU Dessert View Academy is the most amazing school! We are so happy with that school. People I’m telling you don’t go to this school, you have better options!
This school is the best. Mrs Hinkle and Mrs Wiles are the most caring teachers I have seen. We are looking forward to 2nd grade.
Some of the teachers are rude and expect too much out of children and some are really nice and understanding just depends
