My experience as a grandparent was terrible to pick up my granddaughter because she was sick Temperature of 101 and to be harassed by security was the least of my situation. I was called to pick up my granddaughter and ringing the bell for the school and man voice comes over the intercom get in front of the camera, “what camera I say” he never answers and again he says get in front of the camera and I repeat myself again. A man comes and opens the door and let me in. I go to the office to request my granddaughter whereabouts she is in the nurses station, the office clerk escorts me there and I see my baby laying there sleeping with a dirty coat on her that clearly it’s not her coat. ( clearly the don’t have blankets for sick children) I ask the lady there where is her coat? She says doesn’t know, so I quickly went to her classroom 102 which is next to the desk of security officer who let me in and he comes right behind me and ask what am I doing? I responded that I was getting my granddaughter’s coat. he explains to me in a tone I didn’t appreciate that I should come in here, but I needed her coat, he says the teacher should have done that. I said it should have already been in the nurse’s station…. Do I really have time for this discussion with him, well clearly they didn’t do that I said and I know WHY ??you are following me like that? Then he asked me sign in….(Really) I did so just so I wouldn’t have any other complications with him. I got my granddaughter and left. I feel that the protocol in this system is out of order if you have a bell and want parents or guest to stand in front of the camera there should be a notice or sign of instructions there.. and since it was extra sensitive situation that I get my granddaughter immediately to the rising of her temperature. I was treated like cattle and shuffle here and there non friendly environment, the security didn’t ask me where I was going or what I need when he open the door. As a grandparent I would like to feel like the situation was serious enough for everyone involved to ready and not confused or disrespect of the pick of my granddaughter; not stopped and questioned about what I am doing? Who is really in charge of them, no real system of parent friendly environment and I wouldn’t want to come here again unless I had too. Unfriendly, unprofessional, unorganized, policing parents like were are criminals or thugs. That security guard needs to be retrain to be helpful and not discourtesy to everyone. I also heard that he argues with many other parents. not good at all!!!! I have been a long time parent of the previous school Stockton and now my grandchildren got her to the Courtenay. What changes have been made to CPS and the whole system of schools…I am the community and I support all changes that are good the children and parents. Some works need to done that this would happen again.

Sincerely,
Ms. Murray

I am not going to lie that there weren’t Some Good Teacher’s here that made it fun at time’s. But there were some Mean Teacher’s also Bullying Student’s and Physically Hitting them. I experienced the hitting, pinching as a child in this school. Too much bullying in this school. Not only from kid’s to kid’s. But from some Teacher’s to Parent’s and that “updated security guard”. I did addressed these incidents myself immediately w/ Pricipal !! I am grateful my son didn’t have to experience all the horrible bullying year’s i went through in this school that marked me for life. Unfortunately he got to experience some bullying thankfully not to the extent i did. We left this school and the bad unsafe area when my son finished his 1st grade year. I am so thankful we did. Now he’s a teen ! Such a sweet boy because we made the decision to leave to a better school where they don’t condone bad behavior/bullying. District 81 Grammar, Elementary School’s are the Best !!!
The Courtenay Language Arts Center is one of the best school I have ever been too, I had many, many fun experiences there to where I found out somewhat I want to, the teachers treat everyone great and the students will help you if you need it, I might have only been there for only a couple of months but, I just wish that I could have been there since I was in kindergarten, and if you want any teacher I suggest Mrs.Obichere she is a loving fun, sweet woman who wants you to proceed in your dreams, and if anyone wonders who I am just ask around who had the nickname, “High light bright” or always walked around with a bright orange jacket and a bright orange hat.
so if want to take your child or children to any school you should go with Courtenay Language Arts….GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!
