Just generally not pleased with the school and administration. Felt like messages were always purposely misinterpreted. Of course, I know it wasn’t on purpose, just didn’t click with them. The main issue was, while my child excelled in that school, got all A’s and good evaluations from teachers, he struggled mightily when I put him into regular school and stopped homeschooling. It’s almost like Master’s was extra easy and we were unprepared for the rigors of a “real” school and the studying and testing that came with 5th grade. I’m glad I pulled him out before high school, which wasn’t my original plan. Again, he got pulled out due to more “miscommunication” where they cancelled an entire grade (2nd) at the last minute due to lack of participation and tried to squeeze my child into a lower grade (1st) and saying they would make sure to add “grade appropriate” curriculum in for them. Uh… No, that really just sounds like they’ll be repeating first grade. When I said I wasn’t comfortable with that, they told me they would not refund any of my registration ($850) or fees paid since I was “choosing” to take my children out of their school! It didn’t matter at all that I registered for 2nd grade which they were no longer offering!
My two children have been at Master’s for seven years. When I first looked at schools and programs, I had a hard time finding anything where my son would be more than just another number in the class. After speaking with Bekah about their program, I knew that my son would not only be well-educated, but also dearly loved. Our time at Master’s has proven that true. The administration cares deeply about each and every student. They take their values to heart and truly work with each family to partner with them in their homeschooling journey. For our family, they were able to challenge my son who excelled in academics and meet my daughter where she was when she was diagnosed with a learning challenge. We love everything about Master’s. The teachers are top notch, caring, and fun. The program is comprehensive: math, English, history, science, Spanish, and literature. The community is supportive and active. We also attended their arts program on Mondays and love it too! My kids took private music lessons and learned about music, art, history, and drama. (I cried at every recital and performance.) If you are looking for a supportive community and loving home school program, Master’s is the perfect place!
We have been so blessed to have found Master’s Academy. At first we toured the school because we were interested in their Monday classes (drama, art, music) and we were pleasantly surprised to learn about their academic program. The staff at Master’s Academy truly cares about the students. We were looking for something super specific and never thought we would find it. We wanted our kids to get a better education than at public school, but not a rigid and overwhelming workload that would be too much pressure for the kids and for us. We wanted a Christian or Christian friendly environment that wasn’t overly religious and Uber fundamentalist. We were seeking smaller class sizes but wanted our kids to make friends. We wanted a school that could accommodate my child with ADHD in a loving environment. We wanted our kids to start learning Spanish in elementary school. This school literally gave us all of that and more. Our kids are thriving, they love their teachers and the friendships that they’ve made. They are learning a ton and we feel very supported by the school. They want everyone to be comfortable and to thrive. We can’t say enough good things about this school!
