I’ve been in this school my whole life like literally from k-9 and I just finished 9th and all i will say is I had very good years in the school with all the students I met, teachers I met (some of them) which by the way (ms.millo being the best English teacher anybody could have and mr.flores being the best history teacher anybody could have) and the staff (some of them). I liked many things about the school but a few things I didn’t like were:
1. How teachers had favoritism
2. The school didn’t have any sports or special electives for the future
3. The school has stupid rules against uniform
4. Most of the classroom materials are cheap and they re use old books which were written in
5. u can get in trouble for literally anything (I know I was involved in many things)
6. super strict against phones like it’s not that serious
7. The lunch was bad most of the time it was either cold or hard
8. Bathrooms weren’t clean most of the time
9. animals would get into the school
10. And last the school was full of drama between the middle and high school students like it was crazy
But the school also has good things like:
1. Amazing teachers(some of them)
2. no ghetto students
3. the staff were nice when I talked to them
4. they let me blast music outside
5. Jeans every Friday
6. No fights never any fights
And many more. yea I didn’t really like the school personally when I was there and I think most of the staff knew that, but mater is a school I would never forget and I thank Mater for all the memories I made here, and all the friends I made here and all the amazing people I met. mater will definitely always have a place in my heart and watch out staff I will be visiting mater some time soon and also I’m sorry if I made any teachers lives a living hell (ms.mora And ms.rivera) I’m sorry for all the trouble I caused at mater and In the classes and I promise I’ll change as a student so yea that’s all folks and I’ll say it one last time I’ll never forget this school
the cafeteria staff were the only ones that made me feel better. I feel like they deserve more recognition also Ms. Gemma in the front office, she’s a sweet heart and made me feel safe. I spent almost 10 years in that school and the administration isn’t the best. I had multiple problems with Ms. Santagati (Ms.Ocampo) she once told me “You better move” when I was walking up the stairs. In other words she wanted me to make space for her. That’s not how you ask someone. You EXCUSE ME! she would also say that I had an “attitude” every time I would talk, mind you I am a person of color and that made me feel some type of way. She also made fun of our Christmas cards that we were selling once for fundraising because “they were the dollar store.” The administration needs to change the way they speak to the students. The principal, I barely spoke to that principal she barely interacts with the students, unless if it’s to take pictures to post it on the school’s Instagram. They also had a “counselor” Ms. Verde that wasn’t even a counselor, she would lie to the students and make them scare and pressure them! Some administration would talk about students or make fun of them. If you are a student there DONT BE SCARED TO STAND UP FOR YOURSELF!
