Update (10/22/2019)

After 3 years that my son has attended this school, I have never felt more gratitude with the staff, teachers, and principals. They have gone above and beyond for the student’s success.

My son loves his 2nd grade teacher, Ms. Davenport. She is very kind, caring, knowledgeable, and just wonderful.

I am very proud that the students in Mater elementary worked very hard to obtain a 3 stars this year! The parents can’t go unnoticed since we will support our children and their education.
Mater middle school made it to 4 stars!
By the time my son will be in middle school we will already have 5 stars for both elementary and middle school.

I am a proud mother of my child attending Mater Academy Bonanza, and we plan on being at this school for another 6 years!

This is Mater Academy Bonanza’s second year opened, and I’ve seen way more good than bad.

Last year for Kindergarten my son had an incredible teacher, Ms. B. This year he switched from one teacher to the other halfway through the school year. Who he is currently with is a very patient teacher, and doesn’t yell at her students (Ms. Huss).

My son was above average in Kindergarten and did great, but for some reason now he is falling behind.
I’m not quite sure if it’s a different curriculum then CCSD, but I’m very glad Ms. Clark is helping him succeed slowly but surely.

Ms. Yadira in the front office is very friendly and very patient. I can truly see how hard she works every time I see her.

My son was in the 21st Century Art Program the first half of the year and he loved it. Ms. Veronica and Mr. Portman were amazing to him!

Mr. Portman happens to be the music teacher throughout the day and my son seemed to create a bond with him. All my son can say is good things about him.

Ms. Veronica is the MOST patient person I have ever met. I truly admire how dedicated she has been in the after school program.

He is currently in T-ball with Ms. Cindy and he also enjoys practicing and playing a game every Saturday.
Ms. Cindy since day one has been someone who supported my child no matter what.
She actually cares and shows interest in the students.
Even to the point where she buys them snacks out of her own pocket EVERY DAY!

The Principal, Amy Gronna, has been amazing these past 2 years.
Although this school is a 1 Star (brand new school), my son and I have learned to love and appreciate everyone and the facility itself.

The only thing I would offer a suggestion is to have a little more communication in letting us know the upcoming events a little earlier, so that us parents can ask for the time off and support the school as much as we possibly can.

Too much to comment on why I’m giving a 1 star, for starters I’m not sure I will continue If my child falls behind as much as he did in the 1st 6mo of Kindergarten.
My child started out above average on state testing and then by the middle of the yr was at and below average. By the end of the yr my child was straight below average/failing.
To much cartoon YouTube learning videos on, parking lot a nightmare, no one knows where your child is at, at times, list goes on
P.s. please get a new receptionist or 2 computers the lines of kids out the door trying to get in is ridiculous and the receptionist just sits and stares at her comp. Screen doing nothing while kids of all ages 1 by one try to type in their names etc into the 1 computer and then get stuck on what to do
They stare blankly at computer and reception is is oblivious as she started at the wall or her screen not paying attention
Until I or another parent tell her to help the kids.
So far so good my daughter is in love with the school and her teacher. All the staff are friendly not like in other schools were they look at you with an angry face. At first I had my doubts about having a male teacher for kindergartens but I have to admit that Mr. Hankey is doing an exceptional job with the kids my daughter liked him since the 1st day of school she says that he’s really nice and teach them lots of good stuff and for her to like one person is something hard to do and he was able to do it in such a short time. Also he would answer all of your questions even if they sound silly to you. Definitely I recommend this school and like I said before so far so good I hope the school keeps working the same way and keep the good vibes…
