Hi there, I’m writing this anonymously. I’m a former MFGSC student, and my experience at the school was absolutely horrible.
I went there for about a year, and in that time I was bullied by other students for my religion, they made up their own ‘slurs’ to use against me, and even though they were really stupid, it still hurt me a lot. Girls came to my locker every day for about a month to tell me that “Jesus doesn’t love you”, people tried taking photos of me when i was on the train home after i got death threats for taking the bus, and there were a bunch of rumours spread about me. I brought this up many times over the course of about 6 months with house leaders, the mental health practitioner, and even the principal and vice principal. They all said they’d do something about it, but nothing happened. I also felt like some of the teachers/CRTs were acting somewhat creepy towards me, which made me uncomfortable. I also developed an eating disorder because people called me a fat pig. I ended up transferring and now i am MUCH happier. Matthew Flinders Girls School, you have something seriously messed up, with how you educate your students, how you handle problems, and how you advertise your school as diverse. Having a few students who aren’t white doesn’t automatically make your space diversity friendly. Please teach the students to actually be respectful, maybe?? On a lighter note, I’m surprised this is a government school. They care about uniform just as much as, and possibly even more, than a private school. The only thing this school taught me is that an English teacher will be your best friend.

so, in short, don’t send your child here if you want them to be happy and healthy.

this school is so bad i got bullied for a year and they did nothing i hate it here and about to move schools istg. i want my school to see this bc they deserve to know the things they do. they do nothing about bullying, and only care about uniform. i once had my school sport pants on and a random t-shirt and they said “you have to have some kind of uniform on” like i have school pants. chill. i hate it and i hope the girls and my school see this too. you know who you are.

my friend goes here, she says it’s a good school but they are very strict on uniform and quite a few staff are rude. However Mrs deveroux is apparently very nice.

Does not support students whatsoever. Blatant favouritism and let’s their students get away with anything under the guise of ‘fair share’. School councillor is dismissive and biased.
