Hi, my name is Logan. I am currently in the 7th grade. This is my 3rd year attending this school. I began scrolling through some of these reviews that many have posted an I am honestly disgusted by the way you react to the things here at Matthews Charter. Many posts concern the racism, staff, and comparisons to public schools. Did you really expect to much of a difference? The kids growing up in this world are cruel and rude. It doesn’t matter where you go. Before arriving at Matthews Charter Academy in the 5th grade, I had recently attended a Christian private school for awhil. To my dissapiontment, many scholars were still the similar to others in public schools that I had been to. It was better, but not by much. Matthews Charter has given me a similar situation as I had in the private school I attended. Nothing perfect. There isn’t much teachers can do about these scholars anyways. Most student don’t care. They don’t care if you expell them, make them out in for recess , or force them to do school work. They just don’t care about the consiquences to their actions. If you feel that a teacher may something rude to a student that may “offend” them after trying to handle some of these animals for children then you should be ashamed. Matthews Charter has had a great staff and some of my best teachers are here. I began writing this article even more when I saw complaints about the deans and especially the comments toward Mrs. Hendrix. Every day these deans are pratically running around this school trying to talk to parents, deal with troublemakers, and do their own job as well. Mrs. Hendrix was my 5th grade teacher and she was definitely one of the best. She was like my second mother through fifth grade. The reason I feel that so many coments are being made about her is because of the way she treats the students at times. Like everyone, we have a breaking point, and many students in her class would bring anyone to that breaking point extremely fast. I couldn’t do it. Do all you parents and scholars out there with these outlooks to our school to be so perfect need to suck it up. It much better than I lot of other school you can find. How many shooting have occurred in the US this year in schools? Not to mention one happening in a high school just a few miles away. Scholars need to grow up and start carrying about others, not themselves.
This school allows children to be bullied, and physically assaulted. My son was ripped out of his chair (unprovoked as stated by Dean childs.) And kicked in the face. The student was suspended for a week then returned to class to sit and ridicule my son. Til I physically went into the school and raised my voice and demanded him to be switched to different class. ” I thought it would be inconvenient and a lot of extra work for my staff to switch grades to new class.
The second time he was assaulted with a deadly weapon (scissors)at dismissal in the boys bathroom the kid is not going to school for rest of year. That’s it. I went and filed a police report. To which the officer looked at me and said. I’ve been to this school on numerous occasions. The principal and staff will not cooperate with us for any information. But I will try sir.

What is it going to take? Another school shooting? A death? A hospital? When will they put in a effective system? A effective safety plan? This school system is failing children by allowing them to feel unsafe, and catering to the ones with the issues. Assault with a deadly weapon is a felony whether you are a minor or not.
