So, lemme describe my experience here as someone of the last Oak Grove class. It was awful. Some of the faculty were rude, the management was insanely poor, and the education you would receive is probably on par with a burnt potato. And that might be insulting the potato.

I will go ahead and say it’s not the teachers fault, it is definitely the school district and whoever is in charge of management at Maumelle and PCSSD. But, some of the things that happened at the school just made little to no sense. We had an activity period at one point meant to help us guide our way into college and future jobs. But most of the time, we would never go to it due to poor planning, up to three weeks to an entire month.

As for education, it’s about as low as it gets. I can’t say I had a great education. In one of my courses, we were supposed to learn Adobe programs, video editing software, photo manipulation, things that could probably land us a job and a future in something I was quite interested in. But instead, all I got was an entire year of making powerpoints with no challenge, word documents with just definitions pulled out of a book, and only ONE video project at the end of the year in a program that can’t be considered “good” by any means, which is Movie Maker. And anyone who made it a minute long got an A. We weren’t supposed to be doing powerpoints or word documents, we were supposed to be learning how to use professional programs to further our education. They didn’t even have the programs installed on the computers. All we did in that class was play computer games directly in the face of our teacher, who some of the students insulted loudly with nothing to be done about it. The other computer related courses were the exact same thing. No programs, no learning, just nonsense.

The student body is also probably one of the worst things too, which i’m sure hasn’t changed much since I was there. The first year, it wasn’t so bad. It was just everybody from Oak Grove, maybe some more sprinkled in and everyone knew each-other, even if just by face. A year or two later, the school gets extremely hostile, students absolutely hate the teachers, treat the school like a dump setting trash cans on fire (multiple times), trashing locker rooms, punching holes in drywall, breaking soap dispensers, pissing all over the bathroom sinks and floors, smoking weed in the bathrooms, bring a gun to school (Thanks James Austin.), coordinating fights in the bathrooms (one was multiple girls beating another girl on video), and many many more examples. It’s nothing but rude kids from rude backgrounds doing rude things. Doesn’t even matter who they were.

The only saving grace for this school, is some of its great teachers. They were some of the most dedicated people i’ve seen and who went terribly unappreciated by the student body. They made the best out of the terrible curriculum they are forced to teach us and tried to further on it. I unfortunately didn’t have the opportunity to meet and know every teacher to see actually how many great teachers there were. The ones I did know were interesting people and are hard to forget. And they really are role models that I can take life lessons from. (Mrs.Dubose, Coach Vierra, Mr.Khaler, and several others.)

Attended this school form march 10th- June 5th 2015, was one of the worst expiriences in my life. Kids are almost all trouble makers, teachers don’t even care to stop them anymore with very few exceptions. Despite the facility being new its not properly being used. To simpilify to any parent and student planning to attend this “school” the prisoners are running the prison and the factuly could relly care less. AWFUL SCHOOL DO NOT ATTEND OR MAKE YOUR CHILD GO THROUGH THIS TERRIBLE PLACE.
School was amazing, it was ran good, students were a little mean, but Dr.brown handled them, teachers needed a better way to make students understand what they are teachering Class of 12′
