Mr. Bohac and MIS is an amazing school!! Single mom of 6 kids of which 4 are still home and in the HPISD district.
True story: After experiencing the messy of all messy divorce, my EX kidnapped two of my boys walking to MIS. Mr. Bohac fought daily for 7 month with every legal agency helping me get my kids back, he went far and beyond the call of duty! A real hero in my families eyes! The boys were returning and again Mr. Bohac and all the staff worked diligently to get the kids caught up in their academics from attending a horrible school in the outskirts of Oregon. So spare me the MIS name calling, and put downs to our school. Not once were we looked down on, treated differently or did Mr. Bohac or the school staff ever care we were in the lower economic spectrum of society!!! All he and the staff cared about bringing my boys home and getting them back in school!! Rich monetarily we’re not!! Not once was it ever a factor to MIS. Great school! Great staff and to Mr. Bohac, they’re ALL his kids… thank you, thank you, thank you MIS. We LOVE our school!!
Like many other reviews say, this school is for the stereotypical “snobby rich kids” that live in Highland Park. There is not much diversity, considering that only certain people can afford to live in the expensive neighborhood. There is a social hierarchy among students, and bullying takes place at this school (but the teachers will deny it). The education provided is not desirable, and most of the kids here will go on to the Highland Park high school and later, SMU. If you want your kids to go to a better college and have a more promising future, then save your money on the crazy expensive house, clothes, and food that you will end up paying for if you live here. You’re better off buying a lower-priced house somewhere else and sending your child to a private school where the teachers will actually put serious time and effort into getting your kid a proper education and a successful future.
I’m in seventh grade and my experience has not been amazing, I used to get bullied and I would tell the teacher and they would not do anything about it. Last year I got sliced in the legs with scissors during advisory by one of the people bullying me and I was bleeding and when I told the teacher she looked at it and I told her who did it and she did nothing about it. I’m definitely not making the wrong decisions and going to this school next year.
