Not pleased with this school at all! My 14yr old is currently in the SCSD. We all know that 14 is a very vulnerable and impressionable age. My daughter had 1 bad experience (a suspension) due to her decisions and now Mekeel wont accept her. My daughter was told by a TEACHER that we should look into Mekeel for her. The teacher stated that she felt my daughter would be a GREAT fit at Mekeel. My daughter isnt a bad kid at all. Mekeel spoke about an incident where my daughter said to another teacher ” im done with you as a teacher”… Of course that teacher wont say what she said to my daughter to get that response tho. However, That teacher told my daughter she belonged outside with the dogs! And my daughter said NOWHERE NEAR the HIGHLY DISRESPECTFUL things the other 2 students said to that teacher that SAME day. My daughter wanted to attend Mekeel to be in a better environment, To have a fair chance at being able to successfully achieve her dream,
To have a 2nd shot at proving just how good she really is. But because of 1 suspension she had for defending herself, I was told Mekeel isnt a good fit for her. But this is supposed to be a Christian school right? That’s DEFINITELY not the Christian way. We went in for a tour, and was told then that my daughter had a really good chance at getting in. All of a sudden, that employee is no longer there. And now it was there wasnt enough room for my daughter. I didn’t buy it. So I ask for someone else and was then told she wasnt a good fit because of 1 mistake. Jesus himself wouldnt be able to get into Mekeel. They would CREATE a flaw for him not to get in. VERY disappointed!
The way adults treat certain children is not acceptable, but because they are adults–they are supported by the leaders of the school. My son was always being sent out of the classroom, recess taken away from him, and sent to the office when we pay for him to be in the classroom–then they wonder why he might of struggle with content- when he was spending more time outside of the classroom then being taught. Love certain teachers who were understanding but the school needs work when listening to all parents and children about a particular adult who is making kids feel uncomfortable and not showing that one child can get away with things only because of how much money their parents have while others are always getting in trouble and being sent to the office.
Very disappointed with the pre school part of Mckeel! Was told my son doesn’t need to be fully potty trained multiple times, I was told he would get assistance when putting on his clothes. I enrolled him, paid for the first month of school, brought school supplies, sent my excited 3 year old to the first day of school for the teacher to say that he needs to be fully potty trained and has to put his clothes on without any assistance to be apart of the class. Next time the administration should have all the information before allowing parents to enroll their kids and spend so much money on school supply for their child not be apart of the class. Also my child is fully potty with the occasional accident and they still didn’t want him there.
