when i first came to the school, meriden was going fine in year 6. the people were nice and so were most of the teachers. once i got to year 7, most of this changed. the students make me feel left out and constantly annoy me. they never leave you alone and say mean things. i cant even enjoy any of my recess or lunch because someone will always say something rude. the teachers this year were also not as good as last year. i guess i had high expectations. most teachers became more strict and i was constantly under stress because of homework or my social life. i didnt enjoy things like camp and PE as much as last year. if you’re thinking of sending your child here, its best to start them off in the junior school. people were nicer and the teachers made me feel more included. there is also less homework, allowing you to spend your time doing lots of extracurricular activities and hang out with your friends.
so this school is rlly bad and please dont send ur kid here. the juniour school is fine but the senior school is actually really bad. the enducation is bad and they make you focus on sport rather than acedemics. if you are not in the top class then ur basically going to flop and go to tafe instead of university. ive gone to meriden from year three to year 9 and my experience has not only been a waste if fime but also a waste if money because ive not really leart anything. some of the teachers are really mean and dont know how to teach. they act like they do not want to be there as well as the students. outside of school in the afternoons ( particually strathfeild and burwood, also trains ) students from this school are very loud and disruptive, screaming and blasting loud music on the train, like how rude.
I had an extremely mixed experience at Meriden because everything about this school was unbelievably toxic but I met my best friend for life here so I guess it was a place worth attending. Unfortunately she is still rotting in this hell hole so please, be careful before sending your kids here, they will hate you for it. Without me she is barely making it out alive because of the terrible environment filled with racist teachers (except Ms Ciny Zhou, she’s so pretty and the best teacher ever, give her a promotion) and students who are bullies. It’s safe to say I will never be back unless Ms Zhou is the principal. The place is overpriced too, there are way more schools cheaper with better learning opportunities.
Okay, this school is actually really mid and the teachers are so mean for what?? The favouritism is crazy. The uniforms also look really ridiculous and ugly. ( Like why am I walking into school looking like that ) I don’t really recommend this school, the people there also have a really big ego and sometimes try to put you down.
I was highly disappointed with my time at this school and had an overall extremely negative experience. Some of the issues I experienced and observed at this school included:

Inappropriate behaviour from the teachers: Some of the teachers at this school had very inappropriate behaviour when it came to interacting with the students. There were many incidents where the teacher belittled and humiliated the students for asking questions and blaming them for things out of their control.

Lack of Support: When struggling with coursework or personal issues, don’t expect any real support from this school. The teachers would dismiss many signs of students struggling with anxiety and depression, and it’s hard to find anyone who genuinely cares about your well-being.

High Turnover: Teachers and staff seem to come and go frequently, creating a sense of instability and inconsistency in the learning environment.

Favouritism: This school has a large majority of favouritism throughout the classes and from the teachers. the elitism is unmatched, and the school likes to focus on the students who are more intelligent. Even then, I knew many people who burnt out throughout the year without any support.

Racism: There were many times when I observed racism between the students and the teachers. I myself was not a victim, but I did hear quite a few incidents from my friends who were. There were times when students would say racist statements and have no consequences, and my friend was accused of cheating under very unusual circumstances.

I’m not saying that Meriden is necessarily a bad school. When it comes to results, this school has some of the best facilities for your child to succeed, but it may have consequences when it comes to her mental health.
