I attended this school from 1989-1994. Back then it was called Martin de Porres school. It was a school for special needs students. For me personally I was always fighting. The staff here molded me to be somebody someday. I have always wondered how everyone was doing since I graduated. I remember we were on a first name basis with the teachers. For gym we had Fred and Arty. For science we had Betty, who was Arty’s wife. For Arts and Crafts we had Lonnie. Language Arts we had Nina. Dave and John were the enforcers of the school and ran the timeout room. The other teachers I remember were Brother Kevin Finn, Leslie, Vivian, Ron, Jose, Milly, Peggy, Selma, and Nancy. The staff was like family and I am forever grateful for them.
I am so glad i chose this school for my daughter she was also accepted to riverton charter in st albans and i chose merrick academy. Im glad i made that decision because I feel that she is doing really. She started in kindergarten and is 1st grade now my daughter is reading almost 3rd grade level. Some of the bigger kids are a little rowdy however the authority figures in the school assert those situations very well.
I highly recommend this school I hope they change it and go up to 6th grade instead of the 5th grade.
I went to this school since kindergarten now I am in 5th grade the staff is VERY nice the teachers can teach most lessons they give the right amount of discipline they have basketball teams and afterschool and their school lunch is good to me when I leave I will be very sad with all my memories I left back at the school so this will be a good choose for your child.

Ps. they are very strict about school uniform
