Friend went here and it was decent, two teachers carry the school and 1 of them left a while back
My son just graduated MSS. He had been there since prep. All of the teachers that he had were engaging, understanding and hard working. I don’t know where the other people are getting their stories from! It is a great environment for all kids whether they have special needs, don’t understand the language or are just normal. The teachers always encouraged you to do more! Right from prep to year 6 this is a great school! The school has a great nature theme to it, which I find important for young kids, especially in this day and age. They have fantastic camps and trips. Some students get to go to Japan or Canberra! The school has a strong link with Japan. They have an exchange program with a school in Japan. They often send messages and letters to the upper school children. Very well funded school. If something needs doing the school gets it done! Teachers are humorous, my son came home everyday from school and pretty much always had a joke from the teacher to share! The school and staff are very open about everything happening in and around the school. Would recommend to any parents sending their kids to a primary school.
This year is my 4th child’s final year at Merrimac, we have been a part of the Merrimac family for 9 years now, my 4 children have very different learning abilities and the school supported them all individually and their learning experience was tailored to their specific needs. The school offers a huge and diverse range of different opportunities, my children have been a part of all kinds of things, music (learning and participating in musical events), surfing, bongo drum lines, a number of different sporting events, different Language opportunities, talent quest, just to name a few. The Christmas Carols are unrivaled! The support and encouragement our family have received from the teaching staff and school community has been amazing. We will miss Merrimac next year, we Highly Recommend this school to anybody looking.
My experience has been nearly all exceptional. They have a strict behaviour and uniform policies, and a lot of the teachers are really there for the kids….patience of the gods sometimes. Those teachers that are disinterested are glaringly obvious in this environment, unfortunately I hsve heard on several occasions that complaints about teachers fall.on deaf ears.
The worst primary school. I am disgusted and appalled at how this school deals with students who attend the school but not only that, how they treat the parents as well. I absolutely do NOT reccommend this school. Do not go there, they live solely off of their own opinions that they believe is right and if you don’t agree they hold a grudge against you, the way they handle situations is horrible and their attitude towards it is shocking. They also refuse to listen to what you have to say and are stubborn , blind and ignorant to what is happening to specific students in everyday classrooms and the foul behavior of how these so called “teachers” treat them just because they deem themselves as superior and assume they know everything. Instead of teaching, they judge them off of appearance (race, colour, size etc).I’m surprised this school even exists. If I could give this 0 stars, I would however the lowest is one.
