I am a proud Mesquite academy graduate. I had to drop off North Mesquite because I hated the culture around. In addition to that, I had severe mental illness during that period of my life. I couldn’t handle being in a ‘normal’ school because anxiety/depression. I am so blessed because this school allowed me to only focus on what really mattered to me, which was just finishing school. Due to their speacial time routines, I was able to do dual credit effortlessly. I went to college in the morning and high school in the evening. It was completely awesome because it gave me hope to the future. If you’re considering this as an option, Do it. Even if they’re obstacles, voice your concerns clearly with the office… They are there to help you.
I took a homeless girl who became homeless while she was in her 11 grade.to get help she wanted to graduate, she was told to go to east field and just get a GED, she was so hurt. She could get packets of work, work hard to graduate. Because she is 18 the principal said she would just age out before she could graduate. My sister age 50, and myself age 51, could not believe how they treated this young girl. We were told 21 was the oldest MISD student. This school said 20 was the oldest. We live in MISD District. Now I understand why so many children quit school. Thanks for nothing
