Our almost 2 year old loves it here! We used to take him to Pine Village in Kendall Square but when we moved to Melrose we really wanted to find a place that was closer to home. We feel so lucky that MPA opened right around the corner! I had actually heard they were planning to open several months before we even found the house and had been on the email list eagerly following their progress and updates. Carmenza and Alejandra, the owners, are such wonderful people – warm, loving, organized and very communicative with parents. Maria and Nadine, two of the teachers there are absolutely fantastic with my son in the classroom. The attention he’s getting clearly shows – he’s learning more Spanish and always seems excited to be there. He’s never once been upset when I’ve dropped him off, he just goes right to whatever activity has been set up and starts engaging with his amigos. We always look forward to getting the daily updates from MPA. They’re always dancing, doing art, doing science – they have a little science lab! I love the educational themes and the time they take to structure really fun activities that build on feelings, motor skills, relationships. Just wonderful and creative. Highly recommend!
We could not be happier with our experience at Mi Pequena Academia. Our son started when he turned 2 years old (we lived in another town before). Alejandra, Carmenza, and Fiorela were so attentive during our son’s transition to the center. He truly loves going to “school” each day. We actually started at another day care in Melrose that we did not like and noticed a huge difference when we switched to Mi Pequena Academia – our son is excited to start his day and is calm and happy at pick up. Communication with parents is great (through an application), and we love seeing the wide variety of activities that the children participate in each week. Our son hears and speaks in English (with me) and Hungarian (with my husband) at home, so we were interested to see how he would integrate Spanish. He seems to be loving it! He uses different words at home now for food and colors, and we are excited to see how his Spanish progresses. Wish we could give 10 stars to Mi Pequena Academia!
We have been so happy with our experience at Mi Pequeña Academia. Our child is in the preschool room and absolutely loves going to school. She is happy at drop-off and excited to share her day with us at pick-up, and it’s easy to see why. Carmenza and Alejandra, along with the classroom teachers Maria and Nadine, have created such a loving and joyful environment. There is an incredible variety of activities, from music and movement to art to science to imaginative play and dress up. None of the activities feel like filler – they are all designed to engage the kids with creative ways to explore and use materials. MPA does a great job communicating with parents; we receive tons of pictures and videos as well as a daily note in English and Spanish, which is great for helping non-Spanish speaking parents learn some vocabulary along with the kids 🙂
