If I could rate this school a zero out of five or below, I would. Do not send your kids to this school if you are looking to have them pursue quality education. To narrate my experience, I’ve never had any complications regarding my academic capabilities or my mental and physical well-being, prior to attending Millennium High School. The system is so disorganized to the point that my counselor that I was comfortable with voicing my concerns to was switched to another behind my back, but not completely (this means that I now have two counselors that will randomly deny or accept a meeting with me). Additionally, these two counselors highly contrast with one another as the first was very understanding, while the other was impatient and rude, denying me any help with my senior year and fitting the requisite of government into my schedule full of IB courses. With regards to grades, a mistake was made to one of my final semester grades that was resolved; however, once that grade was fixed, a grade from another class that was correct suddenly switched to a letter grade lower without notice. In reference to my courses, it seems as though the school rushes to find replacements, so in that aspect, there are quite a few teachers that are not fit to teach the selected courses they were hired to teach. An example of this would be for IB chemistry. The first teacher was experienced in instruction of Advanced Placement chemistry, honors chemistry, and IB chemistry. After he had left, the school hired someone straight out of college, who never taught IB or taught period, and majored in BIOLOGY. Since the teacher has never taught IB, absence has been a regular occurrence to attend conferences and workshops or to rest because the rigor of teaching an IB class is overwhelming. We need someone to guide us towards succeeding in exams, and in some aspects, this teacher is quite unprepared in many ways. Not only that, but the environment and the atmosphere some of the staff (not teachers) produce exudes hostility and impatience, as if they do not work to help students and families but work because they were forced against their will and everyone is an inconvenience. A friend of mine had an information/permission slip propelled at her by one of the front desk ladies just because she was wondering how to sign up for a college assembly. This is no way to promote a healthy and safe environment for secondary education. There are many other faults that this school possesses, but this review has gotten too lengthy.
The high school version of fruit cake. Came here expecting a good time for me and my kids but there aren’t any rides, the food is overpriced, and the gift shop is tiny and only sells books. No season passes for sale. The characters are scary and kept telling me to put my cell phone away. Waited in line for 2 hour for some ride called “overdrive” and the ride never showed up. People kept telling us to be quiet and do “work.” Unacceptable. Saving my money and going to Sea World next time.
Millennium for me was great. All four years were excellent. I had an awesome advisory with a teacher that cared, as well as great guidance counselors that helped me not just with my classes. There are some people that suck, yes. But the thing is, you aren’t there for them you’re there for you. And if anyone is bothering you, please speak to a guidance counselor. I recommend Ms. Thomas. Overall excellent experience.
