This school used to be amazing, then Mrs. Wilbur became the principle and everything fell apart. There are SEVERAL teachers that left because of her. She says she will “investigate ” problems, and never does. She doesn’t follow through and doesn’t return your phone calls. I do not agree with the way she deals with things or the way she runs her staff. My oldest daughter did awful in school when she became principal. With the other principal and teachers she had been doing great and was learning so much. Then she struggled with school when Mrs. Wilbur took over. Now my daughter is in Desert Sky Middle School and is blossoming again! My daughter had a death threat from someone and Mrs. Wilbur didn’t do a thing! My youngest daughter has had her ups and downs with some of these teachers. I’m finally having to make the hard decision and pull her out of there starring next year. I will have to place her at Bellair for 4th through 6th grade. I can no longer have my daughter’s education affected by this lady. I also REFUSE to have my daughter goes into Ms. McFadden’s class. That woman was rude when my oldest daughter had her. This lady shouldn’t even be working with children. She has no patience or respect for children. The constant yelling and making kids cry is the last straw. There is FAR more wrong with these 2 ladies than I can even write on here about them. It will be hard getting my daughter to another school, but worth it.
I’m sad that I see all these one stars for this school. This is our second school after moving here, but the first was only for 5 weeks. My son has completed a whole grade at mirage and will Continue further. I think these poor reviews are ridiculous. We are new to AZ and my son was “the new kid” and his teachers helped him transition wonderfully. He is above his grade level with his subjects, the school is safe (which was a huge thing for me and City schools) every single person I have met there has been nothing but friendly and helpful. This school does so much for these kids. The back to school bash, the giving closet, before and after school care, plus numerous event nights throughout the year. We have been nothing but happy with our choice to send our child here. In fact, mirage is part of what is keeping us in this area. The ONLY reason I am giving it 4 stars is because school starts before 8am! Other than that we are extremely happy with Mirage.
