Updated review (9/19/22): Our family had an unfortunate experience with another daycare over the summer while MCDS was closed (multiple bites, diaper rash, poor communication, lack of attention, etc. all just with in 2 months of attendance.) While it was unfortunate it proved just how special and important Montessori Country Day is to the development of our child.

While at the other school, I noticed our daughter came home speaking differently. She started using phrases like, “sit down right now”, “no talking” “listen to me right now” “give it to me” “don’t touch that” – it broke our hearts. I knew the environment was chaotic, over stimulating, and that the teachers weren’t speaking to her how she was used to at home/MCDS.

Since returning back to MCDS this fall, she comes home and rarely wants to turn on the TV and veg out. Instead, she plays in her playroom independently, is co-operative and regulated.

And the most obvious change? The words she says now are so much kinder. “Let me show you”, “good idea, mom!”, “good job!”, “would you like to try?” I can tell she is treated and respected as a human and talked to with kindness and encouragement.

And, I feel 100% confident dropping her off in the morning. I don’t cry on my way home questioning if she is in the right place. I know she is happy and thriving at MCDS and we couldn’t trust or love the teachers/staff more. As a parent, I don’t undervalue this for a second.

We couldn’t love MCDS more! The teachers are smart, gentle, happy, experienced and everyone is fully committed to the Montessori approach. Our daughter has grown so much since she started and has become more confident and independent – all with the help of her supportive and patient teachers. We’re so lucky this school exists!

Proceed with caution.

My wife and I were thrilled to start our daughter at MCDS. Unfortunately our hopes were crushed with archaic car drop off process that did not line up with the Montessori philosophy. Instead there was clear favoritism with other parents being allowed to drop off their kids in the classroom. While we were forced to have our two year daughter endure being taken from our vehicle. Broke our hearts to see how upset she was taken out of vehicle by strange person she didn’t know. Our daughter was in tears wondering why this was happening. We were told this is part of process and needs to be done and eventually the crying will stop. We sought further opinions on the FB Montessori Toddlers of 79k plus members about the drop off process. Over 200 plus parents/teachers commented and said the car drop process MCDS was not a healthy approach and the school needs to change this process of dropping the kids off. Due to horrific experience, gut feeling, the overwhelming feed back from the FB group and most importantly our daughters well being we will not return. BTW no refunds 🙁
