Our son has attended Fountainhead for the last two years and will continue his kindergarten year in the fall. He (and we) absolutely love the school, teachers and program! He runs into school every morning excited to learn and play. The child-centered approach with an emphasis on each student learning at their own pace has been incredible for our son. He is truly passionate to learn about the world around him whether it’s science, geography, language or math. This passion is directly related to the fact that he is free to inquire and study what he is interested in and not what is mandated. As a result he has learned concrete skills and started putting together phonetic sounds and words his first year at the school. He is now reading, counting to 100 and understanding multiplication concepts as well as writing his name and letters. More importantly his interest in the solar system, continents, sea creatures and mammals has grown each year as the class studies these concepts. It’s amazing what can happen with good materials and great teachers!
Years ago, my niece attended the school and before I had been their or met anyone affiliated with the school, my sister-in-law referred to the Director and Lead Teacher, Nana Fox, as the Child Whisperer. The first day I met her, I saw exactly what she meant by that. There is a student-teacher mutual respect that is very evident when you walk into the school.

The students receive an honest Montessori education in an intimate setting where the students’ individuality is truly celebrated and honored. The space itself is comfortable, yet inspiring. And the teacher assistants are focused, dedicated, and easy to love.

I have had the privilege of leading MFS students through yoga weekly for the last few years and I feel honored. I have taught children in dozens of different environments and this one tops the list.

Downtown Charleston, daily walks to class in Marion Square, guitar lessons, Russian immersion, yoga, and field trips often. It’s second to none!

All 4 of my girls have attended Montessori schools. When we moved to Charleston, we wanted to continue their experience. Montessori Fountainhead School was our first choice, and 4 years later, I am still thrilled with our decision.

With children in both the Elementary class and the Primary class, I can speak to the professionalism and level of education in both classes. It will be the best decision you have EVER made!
