This is an undiscovered gem in the heart of Palm Grove. Our daughters came from Montessori background and we were worried it would be a big shock switching to a public school, but they’ve done remarkably well. The class sizes are small, the building wraps around a lush, green courtyard with fruit trees and outdoor picnic benches and a school garden. The staff is very dedicated and we’re really happy with the education our daughters have been receiving. The magnet language program is impressive and we’ve been surprised at how quickly our daughters are learning spanish. Starting in second great, music, art and PE get added in–the teachers for those programs are incredible. All with really impressive credentials. Like many public schools, the school is underfunded and in need of many resources but it does so much in spite of that. Hopefully, with the PTSA growing, we can continue to enhance all the school has to offer.
This is a wonderful school in the HEART of little Haiti in a place reaping of Haitian lucrative novelties. Little Haitis best kept GEM. The culture at the school is welcoming and engaging.This schools screams PRIDE in all that do . It screams proud academically. It exemplifies what learning should be. The teachers are amazing . The language program endorses fundamental learning in French and Creole. Classroom environment is one of the most important factors affecting student learning. Simply put, students learn better when they have a positive environment. A positive environment is one in which students feel a sense of belonging, trust others, and feel encouraged to tackle challenges, take risks, and ask questions. I plan to join the PTA next school year.
Morningside K-8 Academy is a fabulous magnet school tucked away in Miami’s historic MiMo district. They have a great language program focused on Spanish, French and Creole. The teachers are really invested in the children and many of them have been teaching at the school for years. Both of our children attend the school, their class sizes have always been small and we’re enjoying the community. One thing I also absolutely love about the school is the building and grounds that it sits on. It’s a 1930’s historic Spanish mission building with two large open courtyards full of trees and sunshine. Whenever students move around the building, they always get to enjoy being outdoors.
