I feel so lucky to have been part of the Mount Eliza Primary School community for the nearly 8 years that my children have been students there. Supportive teachers who know the kids really well and care about the students and their parents. Each child is treated as in individual who can be amazing. A great place to grow and learn.
We couldn’t be happier with MEPS. Our three children have all had a fantastic experience at the school since we moved to Mount Eliza four years ago. All the teachers really care about the students and consistently go above and beyond. The new principal Kim is extremely hands-on. She’s at the front gate every afternoon chatting with students and parents, and will just pick up the phone if she needs to let you know about something rather than relying on email. If you’re looking for a school with a true sense of community, definitely look into MEPS.
We had our children enrolled at Mt Eliza Primary School over 7 years and ended up moving them to another local school in 2021, for various reasons. Over the past few years we’ve observed many unwelcome changes at the school across several areas, including declining enrolments, larger class sizes, below-average NAPLAN performance, a revolving door of staff, and cuts to specialist programs. Once a jewel in the crown was the school’s Kitchen Garden program, this too has been cut back. The deal-breaker for us was the “below minimum level” of support offered for our child with a medical condition, who was about to commence prep. In stark contrast, our new school has exceeded our expectations and has been incredibly supportive. There are some wonderful teachers at Mt Eliza Primary School, unfortunately the school has some work to do to improve and get back on track.
Mount Eliza Primary School has a wonderful, supportive and nurturing staff. Each child is cared for and acknowledged for thier individuality, while being encouraged to challenge themselves, investigate the world around them and connect with others. The children of MEPS are kind, motivated and inquisitive learners. My child blossomed while attending Mount Eliza, and she still speaks so fondly of the teachers and her learning while she was there. If you have the opportunity to enrol your child, don’t miss a chance to explore this beautiful and vibrant school community on the peninsula. MEPS is a wonderful place to grow and learn!
Our family has had an association with Mount Eliza Primary School for 7 years now, and currently have 2 children enrolled. Our experience over this time has been overwhelmingly positive. Like all families in the area who are looking to make a decision on schooling for their children, we were initially overwhelmed with abundance of local choice. Prior to the primary school years, one of our children experienced ELC at a local independent school, and we can absolutely say that we have been incredibly satisfied and grateful that such a comparable high level of education is offered via our local state school, Mount Eliza Primary. We do not feel that our children are missing any opportunities, and that the care, communication and commitment of the teaching faculty has been incredible in the development of our children. Its is also currently an exciting time at our school with our new Principal Kim Wheeler commencing in 2020. Kim has outstanding national and international experience, and has held senior positions at independent schools such as Firbank Grammar and Toorak College. Do yourself a favour and make sure you explore the fit for your family at Mount Eliza Primary School. We are very grateful we did and thank all of the staff for the memories they have helped our children create so far.
