During that time MLC has faced an incredible amount of change while also continuing to be the flag-bearer for innovation of dual-language education. I understand how some parents might criticize the school, but like any institution that retains a tightknit, small community of learning that promotes respect, responsibility, caring, tolerance, and safety (5 principles), there will be isolated incidents that require the community to dialogue with one another to solve issues.
MLC is not a school that treats issues lightly, not from our perspective. In crisis, this is where I saw staff, administration, and other school personnel shine. Not only offering support and resolve for my son, but providing a lesson to his entire class and peers through community and adhering to the 5 principles. From this incident, growth was nurtured and bonds were strengthened. However, this does require support and commitment from the families that enroll their kids at MLC.
In a time of seemingly ongoing conflict and divide, I feel MLCs position in our society has become even more important. A place not only for learning and developing real world skills that will be transferable into a new global economy and society, but also where our future generations will react and respond with respect and understanding and empathy and LOVE for their fellow brothers and sisters in the human FAMILY. Thank you MLC for having faith in our young people!
A group of parents tried to arrange a meeting with the principal and she told the parent she didn’t want to meet because she “already hosted several meet and greets. What more do you people want?!”
Yep, the principal said that.
Finally arranged a meeting where the principal and the director threw the teacher under the bus. Refused to apologize. Refused to say what THEY would do to fix their problems. Refused to take any responsibility or be accountable at all. Nope. Three of us pulled our kids out. Another stayed but only because she couldn’t find another suitable school.
