My daughter started going to My Montessori when she was exactly 2 years and 9 months old. She’s 4 now, and every day we are grateful that we made the decision to send her there. The administrators and teachers are all wholly focused on the kids and what is best for them, and they all genuinely love all the students. It’s funny to say but it makes a huge difference to drop my kid off every day at a place where I know she is genuinely loved and cared about, whether she’s having a good day or a bad day.

She’s a very strong-willed kid and the teachers are able to help her manage her behavior without crushing her spirit – NOT an easy feat. I see it at home – when she gets upset and she puts herself in a little yoga pose and takes deep breaths to calm down, or when she uses very advanced vocabulary to explain to me why she’s upset, rather than just throwing a tantrum like most kids I see her age. I attribute that to My Montessori.

I’ve also seen my daughter take on an independence that I don’t see in other kids her age. She is able to transfer what she wants into an action, and then execute that action with minimal or no help. For example, from one of the nature programs at school she became very interested in bones. She expressed her interest, told me what she found interesting, and asked me to take her to the library to get a book about bones. We got a book on the human body and she took the book and told me she was going to go find all the pages on bones and then come show me. For a then-3-year-old to manage that level of thinking and action on her own really underscored for me that the Montessori approach of teaching independence was effective, and that the My Montessori teachers in particular were incredibly adept at teaching that independence and love of learning to a very young child.

Lastly, the other kids at the school at wonderful. They have the most wonderful interactions at drop off and pick up – helping each other, speaking kindly to each other, being inclusive of everyone – it’s really great to see my daughter as a part of such a great community of children. The fact that she’s learning to count and read and all that is important of course, but at this age to me it’s most important that she learn to be kind, empathic, and comfortable in her own skin. Seeing all the kids together makes me confident that she and all her classmates are gaining these important skills.

If you are looking for a home-away-from-home for your child, where s/he can feel loved and safe while developing important academic skills as well as personal and interpersonal skills, then I strongly recommend My Montessori to you.

My Montessori Schools provides an amazingly rigorous and enjoyable curriculum to all of its students. From visits by local naturalists, to an introduction to other languages, to cultural inclusion, to the world-renowned lessons and instructions style of Montessori schools worldwide, the toddler and preschool educations are second to none. The teachers are incredible at structuring lessons to all learners and including all children regardless of learning style into the lessons. Both of my children, whose styles themselves are very disparate, loved the experiences they received from My Montessori. My older child, currently a second grader, started at the age of four and entered the public school both ready for the curriculum and excited to learn. My younger child, about to start the kindergarten year at MMS, started at 15 months and has not only loved the school but forged deep bonds with every member of the staff that she was fortunate enough to work with. I would recommend MMS to anyone and everyone who is interested in a quality education.
