I personally attended New Century School for many years and as a result have received 2 scholarships for competitive Melbourne private schools. The curriculum teachers are not only helpful, engaging but are experienced in their own disciplines and deliver meaningful lessons relevant to scholarship material. Attending this school definitely paves a brighter future for students!
ok to be totally honest – new century is respectable, and is good in terms of education for scholarships. it helps with getting scholarships a lot and a good chunk of my class got scholarships to schools as well. the homework is always like a year or two ahead and on curriculum, and it prepares you sufficiently – specifically the math. english and writing not so much but to a good enough level, and you have to understand it is a school based on chinese values so it’s understandable. science programs put in y6 and y9/y10 are also quite good.

one of the best parts was the connection because the majority of kids are all in the same boat – stressed gifted burnt out chinese kids whose parents force them in. but you all end up becoming friends and know each otehr well by the end. tehres also the chinese program in the after noon which is great.

main weaknesses of new century was the quality of classes deteriorate as you grow up, and throughout quarantine. kids just copy answers from the internet bc they put them up bc of lockdowns. classes are silent after zoom. i think i stopped learning once i got into my teen years and i ended up quitting and transferring to another tutoring company for vce.

so overall recommend for scholarship kids but not worth once over the age of 14 – 15.

went to like 3 campuses between y4-7, and my mental health greatly deteriorated, ended up quitting so perhaps i didnt get the full experience. although the content taught may actually prepare u scholarships/entry into selective schools, it comes with great trade-offs.

very much a sink or swim situation

My kids have been attending New Century (Ashwood campus) for 3years. The staff at New Century are very professional, friendly and helpful. They also have good knowledge of the wider education system in Melbourne. Perhaps from their long standing operations in Melbourne. Most noticeably, new century teachers have helped my son improve his writing by heaps and bounds. Previously my son has little interest in writing. Through constant constructive feedback & encouragement from the teachers, now he enjoys writing narrative essays with good ideas etc. To that i’m really grateful to the dedicated teachers there.
I’ve been a student at New Century School for approximately 3 years, and I cannot tell you whether the bad reviews are true or not. Some teachers are really friendly, one even offered to give someone a chocolate bar after they skipped breakfast for the exam.
However, there are also some teachers that may ‘flip the tables’, and have a favourite and least favourite student.
Let me tell you; I used to be the worst student in my school. After attending New Century, I went to the top. Of course, you may think that it’s boring, and I completely understand it. I recommend it myself. (I go to the Wheelers Hill campus, if you want to know.)
