Excellent school! I would recommend this school to anyone that wants the best for their child. This school allows kids to be who they are and DOES NOT tolerate teasing or bullying of any kind. The classes are small and there is only one class per grade which is awesome because each child gets all the help they need if they are having trouble. The curriculum is challenging which is also great. Who wouldn’t want their child to be challenged? Oh! And my favorite part is that it is so diverse! Every year, NHA has students from, Korea, China, and Gambia study there for a year. NHA students can also either take Korean or Spanish as a foreign language. I have only named a few of the many reasons why this school is so awesome. I attended this school from the 6th to the 10th grade, and after having a child of my own and deciding that I want to send her there when she is of age, I now realize how truly blessed I was to attend this school. The curriculum was challenging, but it was just the challenge I needed to stimulate my ADHD mind. I took Korean during the time I was there, and even won a scholarship to go to Korea at the age of 12 (AMAZING!). Even after my mother lost her job in the middle of my 10th grade year, I refused to go back to public school and decided to get my GED instead. I passed it with very high scores, with no studying, and pretty much just a 9th grade level of education. Pretty cool huh? That should speak volumes for New Hope Academy’s excellency.
I did not have a good time at this school. The staff is biased, and more understanding and lenient to the Caucasian children. A white child provoked my friend and I, we all went to the office. My friend and I came back from the office with detention slips, the white boy came back with a board game!! Also, in 3rd grade I was told I was becoming “too thick” for jeggings… I was a very active and slim child, there was nothing “thick” about me.
The school was great at hosting events for students to get to know each other, though. I still have many friends from there.
