This school is ran based on favoritism and rotc. The only thing they actually care about is rotc and the uniforms. If you forget one little thing you get written up. The teachers are to strict. Now if you want to go to the bathroom you have to sing in and sing out as if we are pre-J students. The grading scale is bs. A student can do no classeork assignments and pass the test and receive a C in the overall class grade. Meanwhile if a student does all their work and fails a test they receive a D or F. It’s supposed to be a “ college prep school” but in fact does nothings to pre you for college. Instead the teachers constantly baby the students and hand out homework passes or golden tickets to “good students”. Not to mention students don’t get into trouble for racial slurs or inappropriate comments, either being racial or sexual. Also, there is no school spirit and hardly any dances. There are no school trips and no senior trip other than laser tag. It’s a school that still needs a lot of work. Don’t send your children here because they will most likely experience some type of bullying or harassment and nothing will be done about it.
I graduated earlier this year, to be entirely honest my overall experience had ups and down mainly due to certain things that were enforced by staff, however in the long run I find that the teachers really seem to care about the children under their charge. Off the top of my head you have teachers like Mr Breaux and Mr Warner. And there were teachers who left for their own reasons like Mr Coleman or Mr Casino but the one common trait among all the teachers is they genuinely want to see every one of their students succeed, this extends to the marine instructors Gunny Reyes and Master Guns Brown. They are just people who want you to succeed and they give you the tools to succeed. The only con I can really see at the school is the school food is a letdown.
