BLACK PEOPLE BEWARE!!!

I’m taking my time to write this review, because of the discrimination that I faced dealing with this daycare.

February 2019 – I called Newport asking about availability for my 2 year old son. The receptionist was friendly and invited me to tour. At the time of my call, there was a tuition special and availability in April. When I arrived, my tour felt rushed. I did not feel like they were trying to “sell” me on the daycare. At the end of the “tour”, the director (or whoever) did not tell me about the tuition special. I had to ask for it. Then the other lady in front told me, “we are unsure about April availability we have to confirm with the parent if she is pulling her cild out of daycare.” Later that evening, I received an email that the woman decided to not pull her child out of daycare. I was not surprised.

March 2019- I called Newport again. This time I told them my name was “Elise” and I put on my BEST white woman voice. MAGICALLY, this daycare had ARPIL AVAILABILITY AGAIN. Now, you’re probably thinking this is a coincidence. I was hoping that was the case as well. Until I emailed them (see attachment) inquiring about availability and received ZERO response.

This daycare is likely racist. I am a young professional (currently a law student) that is more than capable for paying for this daycare. To be treated like this without any basis (other than the obvious fact that I am black) is disgusting. Please be aware before you consider this daycare.

Before enrolling my child at Newport Avenue, I visited the facility and immediately felt positive vibes. Ms. Manil greeted me warmly, and I was impressed by the cleanliness and the joyful atmosphere of the preschool. I made the decision to enroll my child right away. A year later, I can confidently say that our experience has been nothing short of amazing. Every day, my son excitedly tells me how much fun he’s having. Ms. Marcy and Ms. Bella are not only nurturing and caring but also firm when needed, helping my son learn boundaries and listen while staying calm. Their approach to potty training has been incredibly beneficial for us as working parents, providing a consistent routine for my child throughout the day. We’re almost fully potty trained! My son’s language skills have flourished, and his ability to think critically has surprised me. Ms. Mayra has been exceptional in her communication and care for my son. She is the best! Every day, they share pictures and provide notifications through an app. As a full-time working mom, it’s a huge relief to know that my child is well taken care of while I’m at work. Thank you Newport Avenue Preschool!

My son has been attending since Preschool. He is currently in the Pre-K program. He has learned so much and is currently learning to add and subtract! The teachers are very communicative and whenever there is an issue it is quickly addressed. The director is very helpful and always available. Great staff, great school. I highly recommend it. I am a “helicopter” mom that always looks for my son’s best interest and this school has met my standards. Only improvement I’d ask for is the lunch menu, portions are huge for these little guys and he doesn’t like most of what is served but they offer a monthly menu and I pack his lunch when I know he won’t eat school lunch and they heat it up. Other than that I have no complaints. Teachers he’s had are Ms. Manal, Ms. Anusha and currently Ms. Emi… all awesome! and the assistants are great as well, Ms. Grace and Ms. Angie have been angels watching over the little ones.
There are smiles everyday and that’s something you can’t pay for. Two thumbs up!
