After going threw the tour last year for my daughter to start there we were impressed with how they spoke and how much support they give for someone that needs it and got told everything that we wanted to hear.
wow were we wrong, the school has no idea how to help special need children especially since she went for only 3 pathetic hours a day for the first term and only to be told they want to decrease her hours which is mind blowing, the prep teacher is definitely not good enough to be a teacher and definitely needs to be re-educated on how to speak to kids, since pulling her out and sending her to a school that can actually provide that support we couldn’t be happier, Newtown was definitely the worse decision we made?
This school does not encourage individuality or the ability to express opinions without judgement. My child’s needs and best interests were ignored even after 5 years. Bullying is becoming a problem. Teachers are wonderful when they have time to teach unfortunately the principal has them so over scheduled with out of school events they don’t have time to consolidate subjects for those children struggling.
We are very fortunate to be part of such a multi-cultural and diverse community at Newtown PS. The school community is strong, generous and committed to supporting each other and we are blessed with strongly committed staff who puts the needs of the students first. The value of ‘respect’ is embedded in the school’s culture and the notion of ‘seeking to understand’ is real. A highly recommended primary school for your children.
My daughter has been to this school and its always improving. Right now its in the middle of renovating the “Main Building.” the teachers are very funny and nice, perfect for students at this age
It is such a great school I am currently in year 6 and I don’t want to go to high school I want to stay at Newton forever if you want to take your kids here just ring the office and Amanda will take care of you
