Not impressed with how the entire system of teachers, counselors, and principals work here. Let me have one good thing to say though, and that is that Mrs. Blons has been absolutely awesome with my son and helping him with his IEP, and other supportive teachers. However, Mrs. Blons has quite a full plate and from my perspective doesn’t get the support she needs to fulfill her rather overflowing workload. My son began attending this school last year and failed. I didnt receve any emails until 3rd quarter based on how horribly he was doing. I’m new to the state. New to the school system and policies. However I catch on quickly. Teachers mark these students tardy and absent for rediculous reasons. There is no voice for these children as there is a specific counselor who was as i was told responsible for a students suicide. Because he did absolutely NOTHING for this student when he spoke up about bullying. There is fighting, screaming, and yelling in the halls. There are rude and unworthy teachers of having a license. Why qould someone teach if they dont like children or their job enough to be selfless enough and let their students stay after school to help them with their work??? Already my son has had a very difficult time emotionally with students “roasting” each other 99% of the time. We looked into a charter school nearby Apple Valley area and can’t take him due to work. I hope that other parents who see this school falling into pieces help by being a voice for these very children they call their own. Removing the security officer this year by far was the worst mistake. Cigarettes, pregnancy tests. Terrible for Burnsville area!! How does anyone take pride in any of these things?
I went here for 7th to 8th grade. Had to transfer to metcalf cause I was being bullied so badly. It was terrible. I was scared and depressed to go to school. The guidance counselor didnt do anything. I wanted to go home and fix my hair. I had my Dads fiance help me crimp my hair but I realized too late I had no hold spray. So by the time I got to school it was all over. I got picked on all day. I kept having to go to the bathroom to get it wet and also put it up to hide it. They kept laughing at Me and calling me a poodle. Very traumatic experience I had to go through. I’m 21 now and I still remember it like it was yesterday. Nobody handled it at all. The most the counselor did for me was gave me a ponytail n told me I had to go back to class. Come to find out talking to one of my classmates that went there with me as well. He got bullied badly as well. If you’re going to send your child into a middle school I’d advise you to have them go to metcalf. The teachers there are much better. Have a funner and easier way of learning. I loved the algebra teacher there ms. Kuziej she made learning fun. I never understood algebra at all with her methods it was easy to remember and made sense. Nicollet also messed up my 7th grade schedule. I got put in a lower math class to learn fraction stuff . I didnt start algebra til 8th grade. They told me my scores were low but its cause I never knew algebra. Metcalf staff really worked hard to get me caught up. Loved each one of the staff there. The principal and officer was really nice. I just would recommend stear clear of this school.
