I have spent four years here, and been in the IB program, then AP courses.
It’s not absolutely terrible, as schools go. People see the news (of course it’s reported about crap here, but not drug busts at Hough).
The IB program causes quite a division between who’s getting quality education and who’s not, as the teachers who were good have mostly left. Got a new principal, Ms. McGinnis, who isn’t anywhere near as horrible as the principal we had last year. (Oh, Sonic. She snipped people’s earbuds while they were still in. I’m surprised she didn’t get jumped. Glad she’s at another school.)
Enrichment is gone. I can count five teachers who I’ve had who are still here, and two more who are good that aren’t leaving this year. New ones keep cycling in, and some are staying. Not enough, but some that are worth their time.
The standard classes are not worth taking because usually the classes are too rowdy. Most classes are rowdy, honestly, but for the most part, the teachers here do genuinely care, and that makes a difference. Ditto for the guidance counselors.
The security is postured as tight, but so long as you’re not bothering anyone, they don’t really care. It’s only around exam times that
The science programs here have gone downhill though. Math as well. So if you come here interested in these subjects, another school is probably better. They do have online classes here though, and the guidance counselors are good at getting student set up here.
There’s an automobile , cosmotology, and culinary program here in addition to International Baccalaureate (IB.) Those three focus on giving people experience for having a career right after high school. They’re all taught by excellent teachers, as far as I know.
There’s also Sports Medicine class and weight lifting classes. The CTE classes are a joke, they’re like a free period but with a droning teacher and a bit of work.
Theater is no longer a good program. Band has Herriman, who is a good teacher, but Orchestra and Guitar are taught by someone with a doctorate that knows her stuff, but not how to teach it.
Art teachers here are very lax, and mainly it’s “you get a prompt, do it, and don’t disrupt other classes.” Same for Creative Writing class.

The campus is arranged more like a college campus than a high school, because it’s so old that building kept getting added as it expanded. So you have A-N hall (yeah. That many halls), plus the gym, plus the fields. So it’s a pretty wide campus, and it’s great sometimes for getting practice navigating buildings, but not so great when you have to get from E hall, next to the front office, to J hall, which is near the student parking lot.
Running is not unusual when the minute bells rings.

People here are accepting – religion, sexuality, gender, expression. Some may comment on it, but nobody will do anything. So while not the best for non-IB academics (they took out GPA requirements for AP classes, and think that 40 kids a class is fine for AP), it’s

Various clubs as well, like a new GSA, rugby, some farmers for america thing, Speech and Debate (great program, but sucks up time), and probably like six others I’ve forgotten.
I’m on the rugby team, and while it’s classified as a club, it is definitely treated as a sport, with their own hoodies and everything.
While the football team sucks, the women’s basketball is good, and there’s also tennis, swimming, cross country, and track.

So yeah. Established, old school with sometimes yellow water and sometimes the smell of weed in H hall, but the people aren’t terrible and lots of clubs and sports.

I hate it here , I just came here from mallard creek transferred my junior year and this school make me wish I could go back , The students in here are rude , The teachers complain about how bad the school is and how the students don’t excel and talk down on them but do nothing to change it , the food is garbage the only thing good about this school is the library. I require any parents don’t transfer your child here
