Coming in as a freshman was an absolutely amazing experience. Now, entering Junior year, I still haven’t had very many complaints about my teachers, which I realize may change, but for the most part I’ve experienced good things.

Despite the lamentable lack of much funding for the arts programs, we still get by with amazing classes, beautiful dance studios, fantastic theater productions and dance shows, and while I have no art classes, the works that end up showcased in the main hall are positively gorgeous.

I have to say that, unlike some, I’ve had no trouble with the tardy system. There’s 4-5 minutes to get to class, which is definitely sufficient time considering in one transition I had to walk from one class in the basement on the far left of the school straight to the next class on the second floor on the far right of the school – and I usually had at least a minute to spare even if I left the basement class a little late. I can thus understand teachers shutting the doors on people even if they’re almost at the door, even if I don’t necessarily agree with it.

In my time, I’ve also had a wonderful experience being accepted whole-heartedly by the other students in classes where I am definitely the outlier and by the students and others involved in the theater productions – who I now consider my theater family, because that’s truly the dynamic between everyone involved.

We’re not exactly a sports school, but that doesn’t mean the sports are at all limited. I’ve got friends in all different sports and athletic programs. To my knowledge they’re all enjoying themselves, and most are doing well, especially the girl’s 4×4 track relay team last year – who not only set the fastest record in history for Georgia, but are now first in all of the US.

Additionally, despite my many on and off illnesses last year, I was able to maintain pretty good grades thanks to my teachers, who have been very understanding and helpful to me with makeup work and help sessions to help me understand concepts I missed.

Overall, North Springs has been fantastic, and I’m very, very happy here. I highly recommend it as a school and I look forwards to meeting anyone who joins us in the next years I’ll be here.

Honestly this school is pretty horrible. I transferred mid year to private school. I had a huge change from being at private school for 11 years to coming in as a freshman at North Springs. The administration is HORRIBLE. Right from the get go, I came in for the “gear up” day and they did not even have my schedule so I had to wait for over a hour to get one and I met with a counselor. I had teacher recommendations for what classes I should take and they straight up lied saying that 9th grades “don’t take biology” in 9th grade so I got put in a horrible class, while pretty much all of my other friends had biology. All the classes were way to easy, even honors classes was things I had done in 7th grade…

I tried to set a appointment with my counselor and after 3 months they still never got back to me about meeting. I could not stand how teachers tried to teach people because most kids do not give a crap about school and are only there because they have to be.

All the sports SUCK except track, and the school is horrible at everything.
ONLY good thing about this school is there is no real “cliques” and bullying, just regular drama.

Also this school is MEGA GHETTO. I mean call me rude if you want but leave anything or bring something expensive to school and it will get stolen.

This school is very challenging but at times too much can be going on for example for the past few days the power has been going off. Also the students are often on drugs. The cafeteria food is constant as in they always got the same stuff. And the media center has still not opened. In addition the schedules have been messed up since the first day of school I have just now gotten into my right classes. Its the 3rd week of school. Some good things about the school is its standards I don’t know about the regular classes but the honors/ap classes expect a lot from their kids and we have to live up to the expectations……..otherwise we fail. Another downside to this school is the staggering amount of roaches found on every hall and every corner of the school. Its horrific. But I cant say much because I am a freshmen and have only been here for 3 weeks but I hope It lives up to my expectations because I am a Southside kid……I only go ere because of their magnet program and I hope I am not wasting my time.
