Nihs is proberly the worst school I have ever encountered. The facilities are not the greatest with only a few basketball courts and an oval. The middle school building is not that bad inside and has a pleasant space. The senior building on the other hand looks like it hasn’t been cleaned since the 1900’s. That’s the first part.
The second is the students. The students at this school is not much to be desired and are not the friendliest. I saw a lot of bullying and no intervention from the staff. This is really heartbreaking since I thought this school had a really good reputation.
The last part is the teachers. They don’t even know how to teach. Some are to scared to repremand the students and some don’t even show up to the school half the time.
In summary: It’s a terrible school. I hope you don’t send your child here please. YOU WILL REGRET IT!
First and foremost, the education system at NIHS left much to be desired. The curriculum seemed fine and students did engage students in a meaningful way. Even though the education system wasn’t that good it was pleasant learning . The teachers at the school never stood up for themselves when any student disrespected them.
Furthermore, the school’s approach to handling bullying was woefully inadequate. Despite numerous complaints, the administration turned a blind eye to the pervasive bullying culture that plagued the hallways. The lack of a comprehensive anti-bullying program allowed the torment to persist, leaving victims like myself without any meaningful support.
Personally, I experienced firsthand the harsh reality of bullying within NIHS. The emotional toll it took on me was overwhelming, and the supposed avenues for reporting such incidents proved to be futile. The school’s administration seemed more concerned with maintaining an image of order than addressing the root causes of the problem.
In addition to the academic and social challenges, the overall atmosphere of the school was far from conducive to a positive learning environment. The lack of extracurricular activities and a sense of community only exacerbated the feelings of isolation and despair that many students, myself included, felt.
In conclusion, NIHS stands as a stark example of a school that has a negligent approach to bullying. My time there was marred by a lack of support, and an overall hostile atmosphere. It is my hope that future students are spared from the disappointment and distress that characterized my experience at NIHS. I wish no one had to go through what i felt during my time at this school.
Edit: its been a while since I wrote this and I’m changing to 1 star. My tone was a little harsh, but I still stand by what I said. Another thing to add, it was not only her, but a lot of the staff who seem to get overworked over unimportant things. During my time at this school, the staff would often care more about their fancy furniture and the students appearances rather than the grades, health, and well-being of the students.
I heard from a close friend that she went to student services at one point, feeling sick to her stomach and in desperate need of help from the staff there, and the second she got there asking for help, she was immediately scolded for her makeup, (which, I want to add, is not even that over the top) and she was asked to take it off before anything was even done to help ease her pain. The staff -while not all of them are like this- can be extremely passive when it comes to serious issues such as bullying, racism, depression, anxiety, and stress levels amongst the students, preferring to care more, and speak more about small acts of vandalism, profanity, uniforms and more less important subjects.
Additionally, but rather less importantly, the school dumps loads and loads of work on the students, (varying in difficulty but typically being time consuming) without really taking into account the workloads of other classes of the students, but still continuously pesters them for their work to be completed and handed in on time, giving not much time to get the work done to a decent standard. I know this is how a lot of schools work, but Norwood is constantly reassuring and pushing to people that they care deeply for each of their students, while being a complete contradiction.
If the school truly cared, they would do more to help, with everything I’ve mentioned. But instead, the schools only intentions are to keep up a slowly deteriorating high status, completely disregarding their students needs, and as a result, having more and more negative reviews being left, such as mine.
Norwood, do better.
