I went to Oakmont for two years and honestly it was the worst two years of my life. The teachers and staff are extremely rude with a heavy tinge of racism and homophobia. The counselor program is virtually non-existent for any students having problems in their life. Oakmont claims to be a “family” but all of the properties of a family aren’t present. Trust, respect, compassion. All of those characteristics are present in a family, but not this school. The staff illegally searches students cars without permission or a warrant, they condone racist acts and homophobia, and the only students that are respected have to be rich, white, and smart. Any students that don’t meet those requirements are looked down upon not just by the students but the whole “adult” staff. Luckily, I transferred to Del Campo where everyone is kind, respectful, and always accepted. The teachers and staff care about the students as if they were their own. If you were thinking about enrolling your child in Oakmont; don’t do it. They will either be forced to conform into something they’re not or just have a terrible high school experience if they decide they want to be who they really are. Whatever you do, don’t choose Oakmont. Its not the school it makes itself out to be.
The school is weird because i transferred to this school from another school out of state, and my whole life I have been doing 6-7 periods each school day, but for some reason this school does 4 a day, but 8 the whole year, which is something interesting. But everything else is really awesome, the teachers are cool, there’s a lot of clubs. I like it much better then my old high school.
They really don’t solve the problems there, they ignore them. What happned to being a big family? Too much drama and distracts the students from them learning
