This is our 3rd year at Oakwell Academy. There are so many things we love about this school! First, the school is not merely Christian in name, but rather the entire staff is passionate about making disciples by coming alongside parents as we educate our children. Second, the people are amazing. Ashlee, Lauri, and team work tirelessly to provide our children with an environment in which they can flourish. Our kids love their teachers. We get to be part of a welcoming community of likeminded parents. Third, the University-Model provides a creative balance between traditional classroom learning and homeschooling. We get the best of both worlds. Our kids benefit from the structure and community of classroom time and also benefit from the individual attention and efficiency of homeschooling. Oakwell provides us parents with the structure, goals and curriculum that help us excel as homeschool teachers. This increases time spent together as a family, teaches our kids individual accountability, and affords flexibility with our schedule. Fourth, we appreciate Oakwell Academy’s emphasis on teaching kids how to think, create, communicate, and problem-solve. These tools can be applied to any circumstance. Fifth, we greatly value Oakwell Academy’s commitment to teaching our kids how to think and reason from a Christian worldview. As Christians, we believe that God created the earth and humankind. Humankind’s rebellion separated it from God and brought brokenness and despair into the world. God, in the form of a man (Jesus), came to earth, lived a perfect life, gave His life as a payment for our sin, and was raised from the grave. Those who believe in His name and receive Him into their hearts become children of God. They are reunited to their Creator and are kept and protected by His power for all eternity. Jesus is the ultimate answer for any problem we face as an individual or a society. Our highest calling is to love, serve, and obey Him. This is the Gospel message. It is the fabric from which Oakwell Academy is made.

We have 3 children and all 3 attend Oakwell with our oldest being there for the past 6 years. I was interested in the classical, Christian, University model school approach for my children, but didn’t realize how much more I would receive. I personally have been challenged and encouraged in my Christian faith, and blessed by the faculty, staff, and other families. I am so grateful that my children get to learn, grow, and develop in such a loving and Christ-centered environment, with a very rigorous learning focus.

The teachers love our children and pray for them daily. I love the support from the teachers and other parents (co-teachers) who help each other as we navigate the homeschool days and just share life together. It is a beautiful community of families that seek to follow God and raise their children to love and follow Him, as well.

This school has exceeded all expectations. We switched from public school, and I only regret not switching sooner. Not only is this school more academically superior than anything I’ve seen or experienced, but it simultaneously focuses on Jesus in everything it does. Every teacher has been a dream, is full of grace, and incredibly skilled with the children. The University model has allowed my children to not only get an amazing private school education, but also has blessed our family by allowing us to have more sweet time together on homeschool days.
