After reading a couple reviews here, I would like to contest the two single star reviews. I am a 20 year veteran educator who happened to be at camp inCatalina with a group of students from Ocean Charter. Not only were their responses to their classes intelligent, they were also thought provoking and world changing. Their head instructor, Mr. Bearden, was a patient and inspiring man. I’m thoroughly impressed by the methodology and the observable difference in the students. If I had school age children in the area, I would do whatever it takes to get them into Ocean Charter.
This school claims its waldorf based, but it’s actually not. The waldorf curriculum is far more than what this school provides for the children. Staff pretends to be nice to children in front of their parents but they are not. The school is judgemental to children with special needs. Parents are never inform when a child might need extra support, they inform the parent until they get feed up and want to kick the child out of the school. The “principal” is not available, and diverse children get bullied.
