My nephew went to kindergarten here. The teacher was fine at educating, and he progressed well in his studies, but he was one of only a couple non-Hispanic kids, and the parents were downright hostile because he is white. He invited all of the kids to his birthday party (despite never being invited to any of theirs), and was told outright from the other kids that their moms wouldn’t let them go to the party. So, here we have a heartbroken 5 year old who has been told that the other kids aren’t allowed to be his friend. It’s a horrible situation and the school is aware of it, but won’t do anything for fear of offending the Hispanic families.
My child was harassed at this school by another student who spit in her face and taunted her. I informed the principal, Eva Neuer, because my child reported it to the yard supervisor and teacher and they did nothing about it. Ms. Neuer originally informed me the student confessed to her that he deliberately spit in my daughter’s face and that he would be severely reprimanded, but after she spoke to the boy’s mother she backtracked and said she could not be certain of his confession because English was not his first language.
