My son has been going to Open Arms since the beginning of this year. Our one year old had wonderful teachers. Our two year old had wonderful teachers as well! Our son was eventually moved into the 3year old class room which they were amazing with our son ! About a month or so ago my boyfriend asked how our son was doing as far as eating and trying new things, he was told that he had not eaten much of anything the past week, why were we not contacted or said anything to the first few days he was not eating? The situation was addressed and we were finding ways to get him to eat new things if not we were going to have backup meals for him. Later finding out they switched food companies, our son was not a fan of the new food company shortly after they switched back to the old one and he continued eating as he did befor. Last week my boyfriend was going to pick up our son from school, as he walked into the chapel he could hear our son screaming. Walking into the classroom he did not see our sonhe could hear him screaming and crying as Ms.Amanda was screaming for him to get in the corner ! My boyfriend was not happy about the situation what so ever , asked her why she was yelling at him and said that he had bit a student (which disciplinary is ok). My boyfriend asked our son if he was ok Ms.Amanda answered for him and said ‘he is fine’. Never apologizing for making him feel a certain way. He went to the front desk to address the situation to somebody higher up. Ms.loretta was not in the only one available was Ms.Anetta (such a sweet heart). She took the statement and said Ms.loretta will look over them when she returns Monday Morning came I went to drop my son off and Ms.Jamie (the rude lady in the front office with the long brown hair who has an attitude every time you talk to her) stopped me to go over the incident, another one who did not apologize for what was going on. I signed the incident report and asked to have Ms.Loretta call me when she looks over the situation. It was now 12:00 and I had yet to hear anything from anybody. So I called Ms.Loretta was busy had to call me back. She called back and you could tell she did not really care what I was saying she has already gotten the story from Ms.Amanda. Again did not apologize for the situation that had happened didn’t even look over the tape of what really happened before calling me. I had one question for everybody that was involved , how would you feel if you walked into somebody doing that to your kid? Her answer was I think you should take your child out of my school! Didn’t say come in let’s look at the tape and talk about the situation, didn’t say sorry for a teacher making you feel that way. We asked if we were able to look at the situation on the tape , she told us no we would need a court order. This pre-school is funded and ran with a church . The church should be ashamed to have such people working for them, or even letting people that can’t handle kids, or some situations that comes along with looking over babies and toodlers as a career ! If your kid isn’t perfect and never throws a fit or a tantrum bring your kid there they will be great! If your kid has trouble listeneing sometimes (as most kids do) go find yourself a daycare that actually have patience for there students and can handle situations the correct way!
Words can not explain the amount of trust and love I have for this facility. I was a stay at home mom for the first 2 years of my daughter’s life and daycare seemed like an awful idea but life happens and situations change. I walked into Open Arms and was greeted by the most heartfelt and friendly staff. It took me some time to actually make the next step of enrolling her and being okay with walking away but they made the entire transition so much easier. They assured me that she was in good hands and I could stop in or call as many times as I felt I needed to, and I took advantage of that for the first week lol. My 2 year old comes home and tells me how much she loves all her friends and her teachers, especially Miss Teresa! I’ve had a lot of interactions with the girls up front and they’re always the sweetest. I am more than comfortable dropping my baby girl off to them every morning and knowing shes loved and cared for in a way that is as close to mommy and daddy’s love as possible.
