Very, very overrated children center, with a few OK instructors. Unfortunately, the therapists and veteran instructors in this program are not so good. The only reason they are acclaimed is because they get continuous help and money from the government because of the demographics in the town. At one time, my kids, their mom and myself were working with Terry Becker, LMSW, a social worker, and Director of children’s services here at this center. This is because we were separated, and the children had two homes, and for some reason she got involved. Well, she essentially ended up, listening to the mother only, and all the lies that was spewed about me, while accusing me of everything the mother said, without even talking to the children or listening to me. She also threatened me at one point saying she would try to have the kids taken away from me!!!!! Which is absolutely disgusting, horrible and absurd . I couldn’t sleep for weeks Because of terry Becker! she also told me at one point that “children don’t lie.” …Children don’t lie? Children, of course lie and Try to get away with all they can! this is a “licensed”therapist/psychologist telling me this… Which is a joke and pathetic… because I have my psychology degree and know that is absolutely false!
This was nothing but nonsense from the beginning In what terry said and how she conducted herself based on one person’s lies. Thank goodness I have my kids five years later with split joint custody and her nonsense and lies never came into play. I would never recommend this place. There are much better daycares in the area, and surely do not use Terry Becker as she does not conduct herself professionally whatsoever. She is a perfect example of how this country is a disgrace as far as mental health.
It’s difficult to provide all the positive feedback about the Ossining Children’s Center in just one review. Like most parents, our paramount concern is providing the most well-rounded and comprehensive support for our children. This is both at home and at school; or with extracurricular and social activities too. The OCC has provided this support for our child in every way. The attention she receives from staff has helped her thrive socially and developmentally because they have a genuine concern for the well being of her and her classmates. To make things better, along with that genuine concern come years of experience as teachers or assistants or non-profit workers. I can’t count the times our daughter has left us dumbfounded at the dinner table as she teaches us about dinosaurs or endangered species or US government or sings us a Beatles song. “Did you teach her that? I didn’t”.
“I learned it at school today, it’s [insert topic here] week!” It’s been refreshing as two working parents to know we leave our most beloved little human in such a safe, nurturing, educational and fun space.
We love the Ossining Children’s Center. Everyone who works for or is associated with the Center cares deeply about the children and we could not be happier with the teachers and staff. We are always confident and secure that, when we drop our little one off, he is going to have a great day. The Center also works tirelessly to help make child care affordable for all families. Their efforts are monumental and worthy of support by the Ossining community.
