They were great from k-7. And then… I have a boy who wasn’t up to standard apparently. 8 years of going to this school. Born and raised in this town. (Arcata). 2 weeks before 8th grade was to begin received a letter saying because of living in a different district he could no longer go there.( mckinleyville!) Changed his life, based on one decision. The “principle”/ decision maker of the entire school district can apparently make these decisions. Loved them until they made a horrible mistake. Changed a boy’s life with one bad decision. He had dreams of celebrating with his fellow friends and graduating 8th grade with them. But he/we had to change to a school he hated. Because of this move he became extremely depressed. He was already struggling. But they gave up on him. Thought they were great until then. And 2 weeks notice is not enough time to set someone in a school they have never been. There are waiting lists in Arcata! I sincerely hope no one ever has to go through what has happened to us based on this schools’ rules.
One of the better small schools in Arcata, sits next.to hospital and its helipad so kids will have excitement every now and then
