this school does not care about woman’s right. The deputy principal was very rude to not only me my friends but he was very rude to my mum talking over the top of my mum not letting the girls speak not doing anything when the Boys have done something to the girls they say that they are kiva school in my opinion, they are not, I was a year eight at this school last year. for me year, one all the way to year five were the only good years that I have had. my advice if you want to send your kids there if they come crying to you, go straight to the principal and don’t be afraid exactly what you want to say. If you say it under your breath, you can say it to the principal because I have had to write many emails to him, and I had to go to many meetings with him Mark Smith is a all good principal
went here for 4 years, haven’t been there since 2020 but my brother still goes there. alright school though teachers don’t really care for what students have to say – may just be my experience. a lot of things have changed so it may be different. sending ur children here isnt a bad idea but make sure to keep a close eye on them because children there weren’t the best
Papakowhai is a very community and children focused school. Great staff members. It is also a Kiva school which deals with bullying within the school.
An older female hogged pretend play.. my ideas never got played out. She wasn’t even the main school bully. Eradicating males doesn’t ensure equality.. Bullying; abuse; aggressiveness; a lack of co operation: all that stuff still happens with females..

These females were resistant to the inclusion of ideas more imaginative than their own. E.g. they liked to play Mothers & Fathers. My idea was to have an office & a trap door for someone to go down when fired. ‘Cos we played it right up the top of a bank.. kinda behind M block or the toilets there [maybe between S & M blocks or a bit over from that]. It was very steep. Not sure if we’d really go down the bank.. but i kinda remember a channeled bit. I think we slid around places like that more than they’d do today.

Anyway they never would do my ideas. So i integrated my idea in in an improvisational way & quit the family instead & went off through my trap door to play on the bars. Probably made some laugh & p*ssed off Ms Bossy.

There was also dress ups in J Block. I just never seemed to get a turn at things I’d like to do. Other kids might be thinking ahead to get to that activity or noticed a pattern of when it occurs better than me. Don’t know.

Soon enough i was able to do those bars better than most. Like skipping bars & going back and fourth a lot of times.. & doing dangerous tricks.. Pity i didn’t get advanced through gymnastics for the greater skill level that I held outside of those classes. Bars were fun.

Teaching not that amazing.. kids kept in line quite well compared to Sydney schools mind you. Maths teaching left me not actually adding well enough for the workforce & undiagnosed with the appropriate psychiatric condition.. I seem quite smart so it’d be weird to tell me i had a learning disability or something.. but we all have our strengths.. i just work hard at stuff. Caused me a lot of grief in the workplace as people take offence when you give them the wrong change & can’t calculate the right price etc. One sum might be manageable but adding a number of prices requires more brain power [particularly if the customer changed their mind & you had to do a deduction from that as well].

I was a picky eater.. we ordered lunch sometimes like on a Friday or something.. Once i got a pie that was a bit messed up.. maybe i dropped it or something [in its wrapper]. Another kid ate it for me [they saved it as i was going to throw it out].. so it wasn’t just particular foods i wouldn’t eat it was also ones that weren’t tidy looking anymore.

Bullys here & hazing.. like asking which hospital you were born at & calling you mental if it was out Porirua way due to the historical mental institution there.

Games like mercy where they do physical stuff of hurting you until you say mercy like twisting on your arm.. wonder if that’s why they had to stop letting us climb trees.. perhaps broken arms were from something more sinister.. some of it’s pretty horrible on reflection rather than fun kids play.

Still made some friends along the way.. Most probably did?

A lot of people with poor affect emotionally.. when you watched them perform. So perhaps a lot of mental health issues rather than creative kids? Those who have great talent for expression & creativity were not the chosen ones here. We had to sit and clap for people who needed alternative forms of support to that.. like feedback on how to improve would be more fitting.

To sit through some terrible performances was like torture really when you had something better to offer. So the secret there is practice makes perfect.

Some of us who really want it imagine & fantasize in our heads about getting up there and performing. It means everything to us. If someone only ran through their lines a few times they don’t really deserve to be up there as compared to someone who is willing to put more energy into preparation.

Bullys never held to account here..

if my english sounded kind of good.. well my Mum is a bookaholic book worm.. although i did enjoy picture books. I struggled trying to learn uni concepts with big words.

its aight
