I will say that under the previous principal, Dr. Rush, it was fantastic. And the teachers did their best. I was very present as a parent and a volunteer, but when administration changed, the school lost something like 25 teachers in 2 years. When you have a mass exodus like that, there’s a problem. My child was unhappy. She had stomach aches daily. I could see the teachers that I knew and loved disappearing. I watched the clubs and programs shut down. A previous two-time national award winning school was crumbling. Test scores fell. I was up at the school multiple times a week for different reasons, on the PTA, volunteering during testing, INVOLVED, present. So many teachers and staff knew me by name, but in the last month of those two years, when the principal came up to me and introduced herself for the 3rd or 4th time, as if I were someone she didn’t see all the time, I realized that she never really had taken the time to speak to me even though I was there all the time. It was the straw that broke the camel’s back. We withdrew from Partee and registered elsewhere. Besides the fact that there were issues with my child that needed to be addressed and needs that weren’t met. Eventually, I felt the need to go outside the school system to have those addressed out of my own pocket. I should not have had to do that, but we at least dealt with it. She is now extremely happy with another school, but until the administration shortcomings at Partee are addressed, it will continue to fall short of its potential.
Pattern Elementary School is a prime, trusted learning environment.
