The good: when I made an appointment I requested someone not brand new. When I arrived and explained what I hope to happen this week, I was switched off to the wonderful JoJo for roots touch-up and lowlights. I was on board with the consultation and process.
As the color was developing I mentioned that the area immediately abutting my face never held color for long. I learned a great deal when the supervisor explained that the retinol, vitamin C et al extends to my hairline, causing the color issue.
The bad: no one present thought to actually wipe the facial product off my face as my hair was being colored. See the photos attached, taken just after I returned home, and the final one taken today (two days later). The color DID NOT TAKE precisely in that area. So, the VIP event will be an embarrassment to myself. I trust it will be corrected when I return in 10 days.
The second bad: No where was it mentioned that tips could not be added onto the credit card which I used to pay the school. I do not ever carry cash, having been mugged. I asked the cashier and she said something (paraphrased) about not wanting to mention tips so customers would not feel obligated.
Calling that BS big time.
These are students, in a SERVICE INDUSTRY. The school ensures it gets paid.
If the school does not want to be “indelicate” it should at the least state on its website or when making a phone appt “If you CHOSE to tip, please do so in cash”. There is no coercion, but an acknowledgement of courtesy and customary tipping for services rendered.
You are doing much right, but you need to step it up two notches.
