Normally I do my own hair color, but when I have an upcoming VIP event I can’t trust the results just to myself.

The good: when I made an appointment I requested someone not brand new. When I arrived and explained what I hope to happen this week, I was switched off to the wonderful JoJo for roots touch-up and lowlights. I was on board with the consultation and process.

As the color was developing I mentioned that the area immediately abutting my face never held color for long. I learned a great deal when the supervisor explained that the retinol, vitamin C et al extends to my hairline, causing the color issue.

The bad: no one present thought to actually wipe the facial product off my face as my hair was being colored. See the photos attached, taken just after I returned home, and the final one taken today (two days later). The color DID NOT TAKE precisely in that area. So, the VIP event will be an embarrassment to myself. I trust it will be corrected when I return in 10 days.

The second bad: No where was it mentioned that tips could not be added onto the credit card which I used to pay the school. I do not ever carry cash, having been mugged. I asked the cashier and she said something (paraphrased) about not wanting to mention tips so customers would not feel obligated.
Calling that BS big time.
These are students, in a SERVICE INDUSTRY. The school ensures it gets paid.
If the school does not want to be “indelicate” it should at the least state on its website or when making a phone appt “If you CHOSE to tip, please do so in cash”. There is no coercion, but an acknowledgement of courtesy and customary tipping for services rendered.

You are doing much right, but you need to step it up two notches.

The teachers here are HORRIBLE. I feel so abused, please never go for any hair coloring. Or if you’re expecting basic human decency. I got a step by step hair coloring done by Cynthia, who is known by her students to be “good at hair coloring”. But it turned out so horrible! I went in for dark navy blue hair, and ended up with a purple scalp and brown ends!! No trace of blue whatsoever. She heavily gaslit me after saying it was my fault for not going with her first option for hair coloring, for wanting a specific color, and that I had naturally dark hair. She had no problem when I first brought my requests up, she could’ve just said she couldn’t do it. She brought all this up after my hair went downhill. She’s a shameless woman, who doesn’t have common sense and gaslights clients! DO NOT TRUST HER. I was even gaslit by the supervisor, she hid Cynthia’s faults behind the fact that this is a hair school, and if I wanted a decent hair color, “I should’ve gone to professionals”. Their words! When they’re literally raising students to become their “future professionals” and that it’s the “Harvard of hair stylists”. I feel so bad for the students tbh. This supervisor has 15+ years of hair styling, but has this horrible mindset. The supervisor did my hair the following day, YES I went in the next day because I HAD do get something done about my horrible hair. At least now I have dark blue hair… but it’s not at all like I wanted. They feel so satisfied with not even doing the bare minimum. If I could, I’d rate ZERO stars.
