Our son was enrolled for 4 months there. He became prompt dependent, developed OCD, and we are still undoing the damage the program had done years later. He was in the Gifted Program in public school; when PSA tested his academic level they said he was at grade level or below. The public education psychologist and his pediatric developmentalists said he was one of the smartest children they would ever test. PSA refused to retest him to more accurately address his personal needs. We did ask to modify his curricula and were denied. It was their way or the highway. The “at home” support was non-existent and the reinforcers could not be replicated at home (we were not going to give him candy or toys every 30 minutes). PSA believes that all reinforcers should be edible or tangible, hence the inability to integrate the student back into a public or private setting. The BCBA’s admitted to not being able to train their dogs. PLEASE LOOK UP THE PTSD THAT IS NOT DISCLOSED BY ABA THERAPISTS.
Excellent school, especially after experiencing “day care center” Riverbend Academy…
This school knows what they are doing and they are really trying to help the children with Autism, not try to keep them in daycare center and doing nothing. Established by the parents who really know and live with Autism. If you are looking for a great school in Hampton Roads-Peninsula area this school is the best, I wish I could rate them 7 stars…
