I have now transferred 2 children out of this school. They have definitely failed the kids during this pandemic. I did not care for them before the pandemic but it definitely got worse during it. Both my child and myself reached out for help multiple times and received nothing. If your child is normally an A/B student and needs help they won’t get it. They seem to only dwell on the kids that are always failing. I would never recommend this school to anyone. I actually have spoken to dozens of people who went to or had a child attend the school when it was Mainstreet in Hopkins and they loved it. They say it definitely went down hill when they moved to Eden Prairie and changed names. If your child does well in mainstream school and is interested in the arts do NOT send them here. Keep them in mainstream school or find a different arts school. This school seems more like a baby sitter for kids who don’t do well or choose not to participate in school and don’t care. They really should have their funding pulled and be closed down. What a shame.
Been going here since Freshman year. I love it. The best school I’ve ever gone to.

The staff are so understanding of mental health needs.

PiM is the first school I’ve ever truly felt welcomed at. They accept you as you are and help you as much as they’re able.

This is also the only school that will let you bring a skateboard and skateboard in the halls. (But you need permission, and no other students around (like passing time)),

There’s a very high population of students who are in the LGBT+ community.

Several teachers identify within the LGBT+ and have talents themselves! I love how the students’ art(s) major(s) are incorporated into many homework assignments. (Ex. Writing a song about Prohibition in US History). Almost all the teachers there are hilarious, they are just such wonderful people.

One thing is there’s a difference between educating and teaching. They are educators– teaching is sitting behind a desk all day taking notes. PiM is not that.

I’m glad I came to PiM.

My grandchild transferred to PIM for this school year after a year of abject misery in Eastview HS in Eagan. This folks are warm, kind-hearted and the teachers are purely brilliant. Every interaction I’ve had with PIM, ever single interaction has left me delighted. As my grandchild’s custodian and guardian I could not have done better than to place him here.
